Countblanc posted:Weapons that specialize in splatting may have a niche, even in Turf War, but only really once lobbies come out. Right now queueing with a Blaster is basically praying that your teammates are all using weapons designed for painting. Some classes in TF2 are pretty miserable at completing objectives (poor mobility, low HP, etc.) but still have uses on your team since keeping the opponent dead facilitates completing objectives. Thing is, you still need those people completing the actual objective and when you can't control that it's a gamble. It also stings less to know that you're sacrificing Your Precious Scorepoints if it's for the benefit of your friends who are all e-highfiving after winning thanks to your sick frags rather than some internet strangers. Yeah, that's how I see it so far. The Blaster is really great if you can aim it since it can one-shot from a respectable distance and lay down really great movement channels (it's really useful for TF2-style Soldier rollouts to mid if you fire, swim, jump and fire again) but it does suffer a bit on coverage that requires your teammates to paint the floor in a way that gives you space to maneuver and get kills for them. I'm certain they'll shine in the future but those features aren't really unlocked yet, but right now if you want to be useful you need to be somewhat self-sufficient. A Blaster/Roller/Splattershot/Charger team would be fun to see coordinate their unique abilities with one another. I'm excited for what this game will be able to do, in the future.

I was psyched to get the Rapid Blaster so I grinded all evening to get to level 14. I think it might actually be terrible! It's basically a worse .52 Gal that happens to have a bubbler. Is that it? Are there any more weapons with the bubbler besides the Jr, that one charger, and the Rapid Blaster? It's kind of killing me that I can't find a weapon I'm better with than the Jr., while everyone else seems to have graduated to real weapons without a shield crutch.

The Rapid Blaster is so terrible that even having the bubbler doesn't make up for it. Killing is what the blaster is best at, and killing with the blaster(faster than other weapons) absolutely hinges on being able to kill in one shot. The rapid blaster can't do that, so it doesn't matter that it shoots a bit faster because the delay between shots is still long so your kill time is way too low to be useful. Maybe if the splash damage was the same it'd have some use but the splash damage is way worse too-with the normal blaster you do what, 30+ damage usually with splash? Often you can kill people with 2-3 close shots. But the rapid blaster's splash damage falls off super quick so it does like, nothing. It did 16~ damage per hit with splash when I tested it, which is utter trash.

Use the Custom Jr. you get for beating the first story boss, it has disruptor bombs which is great for lobbing at people outside gun range and the super is the Echolocator, which is probably the single most-useful super out of any gun since your whole team gets it too.

But that requires not having a panic button for when you realize that you're outgunned because you have zero map sense! Please think before you reply, Reiley. Real talk, the reason I use the stupid baby Jr. is because of the Bubbler, and the fact that the Jr. has a wide spread. I think if I graduate to a real weapon without a Bubbler it'll probably be either one of the Aerosprays or the Pro Splattershots, or take small steps towards getting good with a Charger with the Bubbler Squiffer.

Being able to cover up every inch of the map in ink just feels good. I wish it had better loadouts though. I like using the kraken roller but the sub weapon is pretty awful compared to others. Are there any rollers that come with the sneaker? That'd solve a lot of its mobility issues by giving you an escape and a way to quickly climb vertical surfaces. I'm always confused when I'm in the enemy base, have 3 of their guys chasing me and I'm killing them and I still lose. Like what is my team doing during that time?

Been loving these scoped Chargers. My current strategy is to speed through the map to a point where I can just rain paint all day (This makes Walleye Warehouse a bit tricky for me). The extended range means I can hold key positions like SaltSpray Rig's bottom rectangle single-handedly. It's great, great I tell you! EDIT: I changed my Mii name to Spraylan for this game.

I started shooting the beacon and 3 of his teammates all landed on me before it blew up. I couldn't stop laughing for awhile.

For whatever reason, I'm curious as to what the reviews of this game are. I know that Alex Navarro over at Giant Bomb enjoyed playing it during the Quick Look, and Dan and Jeff from the same site seem to like it too. And all the random youtube video game people that played it liked it, apparently. Silentman0 posted:Solid 8's across the board. Everyone says that it's stupidly fun, but too expensive and not enough content yet. Which is a pretty fair assessment IMO. Reminds me of TF2 at launch, which only had 3 maps. Was fun but the lack of variety starts to get to you. On the other hand, we know for sure that Nintendo is gonna being adding more content for free so its just a matter of time.
