Normal Igni against guys with shield up does nothing. Flamethrower sets them on fire slightly slower than it does normal dudes.
Oh, and if you set them on fire while they're trying to attack you, they still hold onto their shield while doing the burning animation.

Alt-igni will make them drop their shield after a couple seconds. The only problem is that sometimes they just attack you while you're sitting there shooting fire at them.

Okay so I just have to ask to because I am paranoid. I am level 14 or so, I am running around Novigrad doing mainquest stuff there because I had read that you could get some great Gwent cards from Zoltan eventually. I wanted to do that before heading to Skillige. However, there are a lot of successive quests trying to free Dandelion. I just met Roche and am about to go kill Whoreson Junior. I forgot to meet up with Cleaver for the "Gangs of Novigrad" quest because I didnt see it in the dozen+ sidequests I have, and now that I talked to Radovid and got Whoreson's location, the quest to meet up with Cleaver failed. If I continue to do this mainquest stuff before heading to Skellige is there anything else major I am going to gently caress up? I know you can go to Skellige at any time but now I keep getting this "well I shouldnt leave this quest to save Dendelion dangling because I know that once I get to Skellige I'll be there for a while" feeling.

Treat "going to skellige" and "doing skellige story stuff" as separate - you can do one without the other.

It's the single best sign for single enemies, IMO. It's not great against packs of humans because they almost always have archers. I like Axii for humans because it doesn't matter what they do, they are instantly incapacitated. Igni is king for just about anything else that comes in a pack though, alt or otherwise.

Anyone tooled around with the game files yet? There's a .bundle/.cache importer and re-importer here: http://aluigi.altervista.org/

Importing/re-importing seems to work, for some things. People have successfully changed some of the .xmls at the very least.

I'm trying to find the icons used for various inventory items. Had no luck. Guess they could be embedded in the .redswf files, which if possible would be a terrible thing. Or they're in the texture.cache, which content can't be decompiled yet. Anyone know where icons might be stored?

It's hard to betray something you were never really part of. Book Spoilers

Yennifer was blindsided and kidnapped by Francesca Findabair during the Thanedd coup. Then taken back to Dol Blathanna. When the lodge was formed Francesca changed Yennifer back from statue to person. Ensured she couldn't escape. Demanded from Philippa that she be allowed 3 seats in the Lodge and then took Yennifer to the first meeting forcibly(I guess because Francesca is an idiot and wanted to stack the Lodge with as many elves as possible and Yennifer is 1/4th elvish.) While there they dampened the entire proceedings to keep Yennifer from escaping and basically told her if she didn't agree to join the lodge they were going to shank her. She only escaped because Fringilla Vigo clued her in to a dangerous trick she could use to circumvent the magical imprisonment.

A Gwent related question: I think I read somewhere that the innkeeper in Arnbjörn (Skellige) is supposed to sell the Thaler card. Well, as it happens, I went there earlier after stumbling on the lighthouse, doing the contract before hearing about it, talked to Jorund, got into a brawl and somehow started a new quest chain with madman Lugos.

The innkeeper won't talk to me anymore. Am I forever screwed now? Maybe cdprojekt could fix that guy, hm?

The gangs of novigrad is just an alternate way to do the casino, fighting pits and so on, where you run in with a bunch of dwarves and kill everyone immediately. If you start investigating and then go to Cleaver geralt just says he's already on it and rejects him, so I think you can't do both. Much cooler to go in sneakily and play cards and stuff.

The quest where you help Triss and the mages escape Novigrad stands out as completely bugged - got most of the way through the sewers before I realized Triss wasn't following me, went back and got her then realized she'd turned invisible, I was hearing Geralt's dialogue like it was 20ft away through a wall etc. Quite something.

Talking of gripes, I was on my way to do a story mission and run into a cutscene trigger for a sidequest that was about 8 levels too high for me that I didn't even remember picking up. Thanks to my MLG pro gam3r skills and several mainline injections of dewritos I was able to scum through it but it was kind of annoying. Game still awesome and remarkably bugfree tho.
