Yea, Girls und Panzer takes the premise that driving around WW2 tanks and fighting mock battles is obviously a very feminine activity and makes a great girls' sport, and then runs with that. They play it absolutely seriously.

Klaus88 posted:You're telling me this anime is actually less historically accurate then world of tanks. You can criticise the show for a LOT of things, but it's not as bad as WoT in its portrayal of Russian vs German tanks. Edit: as in, it doesn't have completely invincible German tanks crushing inferior allied tanks constantly. It's just shockingly racist towards every country involved. Klaus88 posted:You're telling me this anime is actually less historically accurate then world of tanks. There's the old "let's throw away a bunch of tanks because we are Russians and we want our men to die" cliche, then the Soviet team traps the protagonists in a church, and then instead of collapsing the thing on top of them with a loving KV-2 and IS-2 that they have, the scriptwriters unzip their pants and urinate on my culture for several minutes, at which point the protagonists win.

PittTheElder posted:So this show is about teenage girls murdering each other for sport? The crew compartments are armored by carbon and plot so the shells, while live, do not penetrate. The tanks are covered in sensors that read the angle and velocity and determine whether the shot would have resulted in a kill, and a little flag pops up if it's determined the tank would have been knocked out by the hit.
