As soon as I got the feeling Triss was going to be tortured and might not be able to stop it, I called the whole thing off and killed them all. Like you said, incredibly satisfying. Sounds like we're in similar parts of the game, and I have yet to go to Skellege as well. Triss was my choice in the first game, you spend the whole second game with her (Shani who?), and while I was really happy to find Yen, just because of how much you'd heard about her, Triss was always my choice going in. We'll see how the Yen stuff plays out later though.

Sile just knows that Yennefer is in the South, and given that she spends the entire game freaking out after Letho went off the reservation and killed Foltest, it's likely she spent some time back-checking his references and those of Geralt. Merry Magpie posted:Why did the Lodge recruit an unknown witcher to assassinate a king and not dispose of him afterwards? That was probably their original plan. Letho explains that he acted like a drooling, petulant dunce within earshot of Sile long enough to sound like a good patsy, and they commissioned him to kill Demavend and rendezous later. They probably would have disposed of him then, had he not gone "sike" and kept the killing spree rolling with Foltest. Yennefer had little to nothing to do with the assassination plan, she was an unwitting information pump. The whole thing was a collaboration between Philippa and Sile to establish a mage state in the heart of the North that went completely awry because they thought Letho was a glorified Middle-Ages Mugsy instead of a cagey double agent.

Merry Magpie posted:Thank you for looking it up. Sile is a massive wildcard since it's never really explained how she knows what she knows. From memory, Letho was captured by imperial intelligence and was promised the re-establishment of the Viper School of Witchers from Vattier and Emhyr, the Viper school being the school of Letho and the other kingslayers and also being based in Nilfgaard (as such, it's unlikely that Letho was completely unknown to the Nilfgaardians). There is no evidence that Yennefer actually went out and said "yeah, recruit him!", also there is no evidence that Sile was actually working for Nilfgaard - the Lodge of Sorceresses had this plan to knock off Demavend and wanted Letho's help to do that as Letho was in the area sucking up to the Sorceresses in the hope that he might be able to convince them to help him kill ?Foltest?, Letho went ahead and killed Demavend while cultivating ties to the Scoiatael who went off and helped him kill Foltest. Basically, Letho is really good at his job and the Sorceresses with the exception of Cynthia were not working with Nilfgaard.

All that you can do is maybe trip up a couple of his victory laps.

I don't really want to look it up for fear of seeing spoilers, just curious if Letho is easily missable, or part of the main quests and I'll definitely see him. Also, if you killed him in 2, does he just not show up? Makes me worried he's very minor and easily missable, but I want to catch up with the big guy.

Compare to something like any Elder Scrolls game where I don't think I've ever bothered reading a book that wasn't part of a quest because a) the fonts were terrible b) the content was dry as a very dry desert and c) they were waaaaaaaaaay too long.

Judging by Witcher 1, the development team is probably still just full of creeps. For whatever reason one of Ciri's segments has a bathhouse scene (like father like daughter...), and it shows a close-up of her tattoo there, as well as one of the scars on her stomach. She was also going to bonk a guy at the end but gets cockblocked by the Wild Hunt, maybe there was a version where she didn't earlier in development. Or more likely she just uses the same basic female texture as the rest of them with her extra features masked on and the tint changed to match her skin color.

Sile: "You waited long enough...Should you survive, go south, to Nilfgaard, where you'll find Yennefer of Vengerberg. Farewell, witcher." Sile specifically refers to Nilfgaard. More importantly, Sile only reveals this information if you save her life. Sile must have had a reason for concealing Yennefer's location from Triss. The simplest explanation is Yennefer asked Sile not to reveal her location during their communication. Sile: "After assassinating Demavend, Letho used our gold and magical support to find and meet Iorveth. The elf was to help him hide until the matter blew over. Or so I thought. The Lodge did not condemn Foltest to die." After the assassination of Demavend, the Lodge explicitly helped Letho contact Iorveth rather than simply murder him. If Letho was truly an unknown, it would have been safer to kill him. The Lodge must have had a reason for taking the risk and allowing Letho to live. Yennefer's involvement in the Lodge conspiracy on behalf of Nilfgaard. Summary: Yennefer conspired with Nilfgaard to co-opt the Lodge's plan to assassinate Demavend. Letho was a pawn who followed Nilfgaard's plan.
