The worst thing about that image is that it reminds me how few shows have good gay relationships without falling into the category of the yaoi/yuri romance sub-genre's. I don't think it's too atypical of shoujo. Like Cardcaptor Sakura and Sailor Moon have multiple gay and lesbian relationships with recurring secondary characters.

My fiancee's best friend only likes anime of card games she plays and lesbian animes. She keeps trying to get my fiancee to watch more anime with her, but her pitch has always been the same. "Hey, this show is really cute and it's about these two girls and the one is just like you and the other is just like me and they like to kiss a lot! also my thing is that while i like romantic comedy or romantic drama well enough so many yuri shows - and manga - are *just* that. like something with yuri isn't allowed to have an actual plot, it's just gotta be about the relationship. as opposed to something about, iunno, dragons and wizards and poo poo that also has a lesbian main character.

Good music too.

To balance all the lesbian talk, the first convention I went to I ended up rooming with a bunch of girls from the university anime club that Kinky Cookie Bunny was part of. KCB brought me along because the con was during valentines day so while we were spending valentines day together one of the other girls in the room started talking about how she bought a whole bunch of gay anime porn at the merch hall and kept talking with one of the other girls about how yaoi stuff is automatically better than yuri because they have better stories and they have romance and basically they were trying to justify why their porn was better and had more heart and substance than other porn. One of the defenders was a lesbian which I thought was kinda strange but whatever floats her boat. So they're all "we bought some yaoi porn dvds at the merchant hall and we're gonna watch them" and I'm just like "ok later I'm going to sleep." Then I had a seizure while I was sleeping so the EMTs had to keep checking on me so they never got to watch their gay anime porn lol
