When I first started the LP, I was taking screenshots of all the important screens and presenting those to the thread so they could keep tabs on the UN's status. Taking those screenshots got to be most of the time I'd spend writing, so I decided to work on something to extract the data directly from the database.

I have a .NET application that reads from the Aurora "savefile" (really just a password-protected MS Access database) and spits out the relevant information to JSON.

I had a friend write up some quick php pages to display the JSON, which means I've essentially replicated (albeit in read-only format) many portions of the Aurora UI (you can see it here). The .NET application also contains the beginnings of an object model for the important Aurora data entities.

Other than Steve and some of the oldest of the old pentarch forumites, I'm probably the foremost expert on the Aurora 5.62 database schema, and have enough code in place that I could probably bang out a direct C# port of the game within a few months if I worked on it regularly.

There's some other stuff in the solution as well: a utilities assembly containing a bunch of classes for handling things like Aurora Time and database enums, an aborted armor penetration simulator, a ground combat simulator, an intercept calculator, and about ten minutes worth of work on a WinForms UI for the game.

I just started reading your thread a couple of days ago, I'm on page 4. It looks good (I had never heard of Aurora before).

Also, you should work with Baloogan and your respective tool sets to integrate CMANO for use in planetary combat in Aurora. :)

Design the ship, create another faction, SM the ship into existence, and then transfer it to the new race.

Wow, a bundle was pretty unexpected. How's the CC game?

In other news, Matrix have some kind of convention in Italy 23rd-25th of June and they'll be talking about the price of their games and do modern games need counters(Which I wonder if it is related to HoI4 to not having them)?

Rise of Prussia is pretty solid as wargames go. It is also one of their simpler systems so it's definitely playable and a good gateway to AGEOD in general.

Anyone tried the new WeGo space game from Slitherine? I can't remember the name (something really dumb), but it looked like an interesting way to do space combat and is fairly reasonably priced - unfortunately I've been burned on buying grog games based on interesting surface appearances before, so I'm hesitant about getting it sight unseen.

Edit: The name is Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy, which is so bad it makes me nervous about the actual game quality.

I can sympathize. My first AGEOD product was Pride of Nations, and I still have no idea how to play it. RoP is a lot more manageable, and I moved on from there to AJE and TEAW.
