Where do hats for zombies rank in this? I guess most of the stuff you can put on zombie's heads can be combo-ed to make it better at killing. But, the ones that can't you can only carry one per slot and they only effect one zombie.

Here is a side question, In terms of weapon locker slots is it cheaper to pull out a combo weapon or is it cheaper to pull out the parts? Or is it just the same cost?

I've been sitting here for 5 mins trying to think of a joke to make but I just realised the animators of Mass Effect already did it for me

It's pretty close to the same cost, unless you're talking a super duper combo that would take half your bar but the parts would only take three/eighths.

Oh, and I'm sure you can use the weapon locker in the school as well. And you can definitely use the one in the comm tower, too.

They seem like a more...thematic weapon? it makes sense that the zdc has something that turns zombies docile, considering they probably help whatever company makes zombrex gather them post outbreak to get the bees to make more zombrex.

I feel that trying to fit the zombie gas as a weapon is a mistake. They don't kill anything really, it's not a weapon. It does look like a somewhat useful utility though. If you don't have bombs or whatever on hand, but you have the gas, you can just throw it around and get past a crowd of zombies rather than fighting through the crowd. The gas also has the mild advantage of being perfectly safe to the player. Drop it at your feat, and everything docile, you won't get hurt. Can't drop a grenade at your feet and not get hurt.

To be fair, it's important to remember that dead rising has always embraced diversity over utility. Part of the fun of a first time playthrough is figuring out what is good and what is worthless. One of the rarest weapons in the first game was a frozen salmon. It would instantly kill one zombie before breaking. Watching a skilled playthrough sort of obscures the experimental nature of the game.
So if a zombie calming grenade makes sense plot-wise, I don't see any reason they wouldn't add it. It's useless, but makes sense.
In the first game you could also get a fake mega buster that shot foam balls and did basically no damage. But it was fun and made sense in a toy store. I've always liked that dead rising embraced the idea that people in a zombie apocalypse can make terrible decisions in self defense.

Zombie Gas seems like a great item just for the thought of people without Protagonist powers using them to escape the hordes.

It's not like every weapon in this game is effective. I'm sure you can't really kill anything in the game with a serving tray for example.

I don't like it when you're watching me eat.
I think the zombie gas would have been more useful (but thematically harder to explain) in the previous games where you needed to escort survivors from one end of the game to the other. This way you could clear a path through the crowds, or at least set a way point where you tossed the can as a makeshift safe zone. Since the survivors you rescue in this game seem mostly self sufficient, it's not really needed.

This is a good post. I kinda forget sometimes just how many "useless" items there are all over the place just because Dead Rising is supposed to be about using whatever is available to fight off zombies, regardless of actual effectiveness.

However I will say that adding "useless" items as part of a DLC would suck, but a thematically appropriate "utility" item isn't that bad.

Also, I'll be posting the last Fallen Angel video as soon as I get home from work today.

One thing that kind of annoys me about DR3 and DR2 is that the Combo weapons are not only more effective, but give bonus experience to use. It seems like it has the effect of even more actively punishing the player for deciding to get experimental when these in-game superweapons give more points as well as doing more damage more easily.

I have to go now. My planet needs me.
Angel is a much more likable character than Hunter, mainly because she didn't try and kill our main character.

I do find it interesting how things have spiralled out of control by the events of the third game. Zombies are no longer a containable hazard like they were in DR 2, and the government is struggling to stay on top of the issue and is sliding into facsim in order to try and control it. It changes the feeling of the setting quite a bit, from the sillier feeling of DR 2.

I mentioned somewhere earlier that it must be pretty nerve wracking living in a world where Zombie Outbreaks are a thing that can just happen, small wonder why people who are infected are treated like literal lepers since if you miss one Zombrex injection and aren't chipped, boom, Zombie which could spiral out of control depending on the location of the infected and responses of those around.

I don't know if the Zombie incident is limited to America or its a global issue by the time of DR3 but, its going to be very hard to keep track on infected folks, especially if they go underground like the resistance in 3 did.

And having played DR1&2 or seen them played it's safe to assume it is all on purpose unless the new devs decided to go another direction with the story.

There's is like a 70% chance they are purposefully destroying the city just to kill Nick and the other people with numbers on their necks for evil orphan experiment coverup reasons.

Yeah it's very understandable, but really lovely for the people on the receiving end. It's also worth noting that this is a real thing called serophobia, and its a type of discrimination that some people really do have to live with.

Were you guys really confused why no one but the cops showed up to meet Angel? It seemed pretty obvious that she was leading the cops away from the other survivors by saying where she was going on camera after she had told the survivors to go somewhere else.

The confusing part is why she chose to go there. She could have said "ok I'm going to the hotel" and then just not followed through. The difference between her showing up and not showing up is a few dead bodies (including hers). Once the spec ops realize there's no other survivors there, they're going to keep looking anyways.

This is why I mentioned the thing about "redemption". It seems like she was there not because she had to be, but because she saw it as a way to go down fighting instead of hanging around as a drunk that people don't seem to trust very much.

There's also the issue of containing the wasps. I don't think Frenzy showed it off, but according to the wiki, if you idle at the main screen, it shows the plane pilot getting stung by a Queen. Controlling infected people is one thing, but how do you stop the spread of the wasps that cause the zombies? It's kinda like Resident Evil - zombies can be contained, but its like spinning plates, and its harder and harder to keep on top of.

I played this game a while back and it is nice to watch for the DLC I missed and a different take on things. One thing that stands out to me is I like Nick more and more as time goes by and absolutely despise Jaime more and more. I was peeved about being locked out of content because I didn't have some tie in app, but holy christ I would have smashed my drat phone having to deal with Jaime all the time.
