The lack of a campaign* is what will stop my group getting into this. I just know it. Some of them have expressed an interest in playing the odd game here or there however. * I know that 'campaigns' do exist but my peeps are firmly in the Necro/GoMo/Mordheim mindset of levelling up every dude and tooling them up.

I understand. If you are able to, get Op:Ice and get them to at least try it. Our group have a slow-grow league going right now. No leveling up, but slowly bigger games set in a narrative campaign similar to the Op:Ice rules.

That's because they're right and level-up campaigns are fun as poo poo. Basically the only good thing GW did when designing that batch of games (also Blood Bowl) was go, "what if you could level up every model individually? Also they could die and get crazy gear" and someone said "that's insane no one would want to track all that" then the first guy said "gently caress you we're doing it." And the first guy was right.

I won an Aleph weapons pack at an ITS tourney, and since I play NCA, I figured why not? I lost every game, but the guy that did win didn't want it and I won the random drawing. Now I have some Fusilier overwatch for my Bolt linkteam. I also have a boarding shotgun to actually kit out one of those 19 point BS/EMG Bolts. Also, I managed to IMM-2 an entire Magister Knight Link team with a Bolt Hacker, Spotlight, and spec fire E/M Grenades. Felt good.

I was coincidentally looking at this today and as an abused gamer coming from 40k the idea of getting like 18 missions for free off the official website is mind blowing. People complaining about Human Sphere N3 reprints don't know how bad it could actually be. Edit: Taking a stab at trying to build a 300 point list. Some of it is trying to build off the models that come in the starter, most of it is not knowing how the synergy of the models in question will work and they sound cool on paper. I'd rework the combat groups a little bit mate, for example a Ragik tends to be quite an aggressive piece and you've got it in the shorter combat group, where it will run out of orders very quickly (remember that until deployed it isn't provide an order either!). Took that list I posted on a test run tonight with two dudes and it turns out a lot of people in my group aren't quite sure how to approach ARM8+ TAGs which are entrenched, time to teach!

I like Drakios a lot. I love flamethrowers as weapons in games, and being able to bring 3 heavy ones in a single slot is amazing. This guy can cover the whole backfield by himself with his bots, or murder even HI links teams out of cover. Not to mention doing brutally wide intuitive fire. Scylla is not bad either. She can have amazing repeater coverage, but could use a bit more BTS. A little bit over the price I figured, but not a dealbreaker.

I bought these at Wickes (UK home improvement/builder's merchant) - GBP8.99 for a pack of 9 The foam was regular craft foam with a adhesive backing. - Hobbycraft sells these at GBP0.80 per A4 sheet A4 label paper was generic brand from Staples - GBP14.99 for 100 sheets I got the texture off someone on Data Sphere - it's a 4x4 foot square meant to be sent for banner printing. I rotated it (the original texture had the roads parallel to the board edges, and I wanted them diagonal) and divided a single 2'x2' section into 6" squares I print 1 square per A4 paper, and cut them out. I sliced the roads out separately from the pavements. Pavements are stuck on the foam, which is then stuck to cork. The roads are stuck directly to the cork. It can get a bit fiddly to align everything, but I discovered that if there's any big gaps, I could just print off a 'patch' from that area which will blend in almost seamlessly. Took about 1 hour for that 1'x1' piece. Now only 3 more to go for a basic board.

Ok, so check this out. I'm playing the last round in our league and its basically The Armoury mission, 300 pts, one Classified objective. I had some time tonight and wrote a list and even a battle plan order by order for the first turn. Combined Army - Rund 5 Slow Grow Liga (300/300 | 4/6) Group #1 | 10 Models | 10 0 2 Med-Tech Obsidon Medchanoid Doctor+Engineer | Combi Rifle, Pistol / D-Charges, Knife (23) Ko Dali Combi | Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Assault Pistol (2) / D-Charges, Knife (37) Speculo Killers Boarding Shotgun | Boarding Shotgun, Smoke Grenades, Pistol / Monofilament CCW, Knife (1 | 34) Shasvastii Noctifers Missile Launcher | Missile Launcher, Assault Pistol / Knife (1.5 | 32) Slave Drones Servant | Electric Pulse (3) Dāturazi Witch-Soldiers Chain Rifle | Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades, Pistol / Shock CCW (14) Dāturazi Witch-Soldiers Chain Rifle | Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades, Pistol / Shock CCW (14) Skiávoros Sepsitor Lieutenant | Lieutenant, Sepsitor Plus, Plasma Rifle, Nanopulser, Pistol / CCW (1 | 64) Umbra Legates Hacker | Hacker, Hacking Device Plus, Boarding Shotgun, Flash Pulse, Pistol / DA CCW (0.5 | 43) R-Drone Repeater | Flash Pulse / Electric Pulse (8) Fraacta Drop Unit Boarding Shotgun | Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser, Pistol / Knife (28) Open in MayaNet Daturazi are deployed opposite the Objective Room (OR), the noctifer ML directly infront of the door. Umbra and Speculo in reserve, but Umbra is going opposite the door as well infront of the Noctifer. My first turn goes like this: Impetuos: Daturazi move and smoke the door. 1) Umbra walks up and thanks to Forward Deployment can now open the door. 2) Umbra walks inside but still within smoke 3) Daturazi move + smoke the opposite door (I might need to fire speculatively to do that on second thought) 4) Umbra moves to opposite corner of the OR, covering the opposite entrance. 5) Umbra uses hacking program Controlled Jump 6) Ko Dali drops out of sight somewhere up ahead not to far from the Speculo so she can use her smoke next turn 7) Fraacta drops somewhere where she can do a lot of damage 8) Fraacta hopefully kills a bunch of dudes 9) Fraacta kills more dudes or I use a Coordinated Ordre to move my Skiavoros, Dr. worm, Speculo and Ko Dali 10) I use Lt ordre (Strategos) to Coordinate move of Skiavoros, Dr worm, Speculo and Ko Dali or put them all (except Speculo) in Suppressive Fire This way my opponent will have to deal with Speculo, Fraacta and Ko Dali, I have an expensive model (Umbra) in the OR along with smoke ARO-ing Daturazis and the Skiavoros and Noctifer ML will cover the doors from outside. This feels like the old Rainbow Six games where I plot out everyone's moves ahead of time and then watch them (hopefully) execute them in an awesome manner like a crack team of spec ops dudes. Apart from not knowing the terrain (except the OR), if I actually get first turn or my opponent, are there any obvious faults to this plan?

Batrep time! As mentioned, I finally got a game tonight using this list:Corbeau posted:Might finally be playing a game tonight if I can assemble the last few minis I need to field this: I'd switched to Al-Djabel at the last minute, having originally intended to play a Tuareg, and I regretted the switch immediately when I discovered that I'd be playing against Morats. I lost the Lt. roll off, wound up going second, and Al-Djabel died immediately thanks to being stuck with the worse impersonation state from the start. Fiday against aliens: bad idea. On the other hand, the scenario was Supremacy and I got to go second. This was pretty much what I wanted, especially since my opponent deployed a bunch of stuff aggressively out in the open (a huge mistake without a backup plan). I was able to plop down my Lasiq VSR and Djan HMG to cover his entire Daturazi link team, and only two of them managed to survive the resulting AROs. The Lasiq also got two members of his backup Rodok link and put his Sogarat down (temporarily) in ARO before finishing it off during my final active turn. My Total Reaction bot got disabled in the first round, brought back by my engineer, and then completely annihilated on the second round, but did it's job of soaking orders and attention. My backline was never seriously threatened and his order pool was severely reduced by my AROs. It really wasn't a question of whether or not I'd win, but how I'd win. And... honestly, I kind of bungled things. I would have only gotten 5 or 6 points from the game if it had been a tournament, since I outright forgot one quadrant during the second round and only hacked one console all game. MVP performances from the Lasiq, Djanbazan, Mutts, and Hunzakut. The Lasiq racked up an gargantuan body count, but it couldn't have happened without the Djanbazan forcing dodges instead of smoke grenades. This was my first game fielding Muttawi'ah and I'm not particularly used to dealing with impetuous units; both of them got slaughtered by a Sogarat in supressive fire, but one of them did get close enough to hit him with an EM pulse. I felt kind of bad until I realized that I'd effectively traded 10 points, and no external orders, for 55 points that had spent orders moving up to mid-field. Ghazi are absurdly cost effective. The Hunzakut just did his usual thing of scattering mines all over midfield, murdering enemies with surprise shotgun attacks, and taking objectives. Standard, basic, fantastic stuff. I really like strong defensive lists, and I feel like I'm finally learning to play them effectively, but my scenario play is lacking. I'm not so good at converting a good board position into objective points. Not much practice at it. Corbeau fucked around with this message at 08:39 on Jun 9, 2015 |

Im playing Ariadna so Im figuring out camo. Is Discover + BS A long order skill? If not, how do I handle aros 1) Opponent declares discover 2) I have to decide wether to dodge 3a) I don't Dodge 3b) Opponent wins discover roll 3c) Opponent rolls unopposed BS roll Lets say I don't have LOF to the opponent, I would then do a Change Facing at -3 right? Or can I declare my AROs after the discover roll?

Exmond posted:Im playing Ariadna so Im figuring out camo. Discover + BS attack are two short skills. If you Dodge you cancel your camo state since its not Cautious Movement or a Short Movement skill that DOESN'T require a roll. If your opponent declares Discover in their active turn you either A) Sit still and hope he fails. B) React in ARO by shooting or dodging, thereby losing your camo state no matter what he rolled for Discover. (Camo) Markers have 360 degree LoF so no need to apply a negative MOD. I might be wrong on the next point, but I do think that both playes need to declare their orders and AROs before anyone rolls, I might be wrong though.

Exmond posted:Im playing Ariadna so Im figuring out camo. AROs are declared before the second skill is announced by the active player and before any rolls are made by anyone. So yes, it's a difficult decision. Discover is a short movement/ARO skill. This allows for the: Special Maneuver: Discover + BS Attack The combination of Discover + BS Attack in a single Order is a special maneuver that allows the trooper to make a Discover attempt and then a BS Attack against the same enemy, but only if the Discover attempt is successful. 1. The Active Player declares Discover against an enemy as the first Short Skill of his Order. 2. His opponent declares AROs normally. If the target declares an ARO that would reveal it, then the Active Player may declare BS Attack as the second Short Skill of his Order, ignoring the now redundant Discover Roll. 3. If the target did not reveal itself, then the Active Player may still declare a BS Attack. However, he must make his Discover Roll, and only if it is successful may he roll his BS Attack.
