It looks like Ness hit the rocket at the exact frame it hit him/stage and exploded, being that his bat multiplies the damage of whatever he reflects it seems like the game freaked out and applied both damages to him or something.

Any tips for beating really good Sonics? I can hold up fine against pretty much all of the top tier characters except that one. His moves are just so drat fast that he is neigh unpunishable and can fly across the stage in a half second.

A lot of his moves have super armor or some sort of invulnerability, he has little endlag, I don't think his recovery puts him into a helpless state like most characters. projectile characters can shut down his spin moves in which point he has to fight like a regular character, well timed tilts or arials on many characters will do the same thing. me asking which character they played would have resulted in me telling them which abilities can do this

Shield those spin dashes, and punish him with a bair after he inevitably jumps into an up-air. If they're Side-B'ing into their homing attack, start baiting it out. His smash attacks are fairly laggy, and there's no hitbox on his initial recovery, so it's worth going off stage to gimp. At high percents, don't play near the edge, because he will just appear behind you and toss you off. Fighting him is always going to be a chore if they're even a little good.
