I"m kind of digging my 64GB Zenfone 2. The camera is loving hot garbage when Google Camera is used, but the Asus app does a significantly better job controlling exposure. It's still not great, but it's passable. It's just so much faster than my Nexus 5, it's crazy. And now I can keep Waze, Google Music, and Daily Roads (dashcam) all going at the same time without them randomly dying due to lack of RAM.

OTOH, I've used sd cards on every smartphone I've ever owned, and the only problem I've ever had was because I bought a counterfeit on Ebay. Maybe sd cards aren't garbage any more?

I use and enjoy SD cards on my phones that happen to support them. It's not a deciding factor for purchase to me, but it's quite silly to claim that they're worthless like some posters do regularly.

Android has implemented SD cards in a bunch of different ways trying to make them useful, secure, and user friendly and has failed with every attempt. I'm sure the forthcoming way in Android M will work though, it's not like the fundamental idea of using removable storage for non-ephemeral data is horrible or anything. Wait, no, it's absolutely retarded and destined to fail as well. The fact is that SD cards have two uses. They exist so that OEMs can sell you the ability to have, if you pay for it yourself, up to 128GB of storage! And they're a way to carry large media files. Decent data plans and speeds negate the need for the latter and the former only work when you're selling to people who buy on spec sheets and spend on a tight budget. Both reasons are completely destroyed if your customer has money and demands quality and ease of use.

I don't understand the problem. If I install an app on the SD card, remove the card, and the app doesn't work how I want, I'll just leave a 1 star review and uninstall. Problem solved.

As an alternitive to SD cards for media storage, I got one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Patriot-Stellar-Android-Smartphones-Transfer/dp/B00GMG2GEO You can play files right off of it using ES File Browser and MX Player. I wouldn't use it every day, but its good enough for traveling.

Somebody a while ago used a magnetic car holder and the Nexus Qi charger to make a magnetic, Qi-charging car mount. It was pretty snazzy, and didn't look to complicated. So no, unless you get Samsunged, it should work fine.

Does the Nexus 6 have the same Active Display and the handsfree features like the Moto X/Maxx/Turbo? When I switched from the Maxx to the G3, I realized how much I relied on the Active Display, always on listening, and audio prompts. I'm seriously considering picking up a used Turbo or Nexus 6.

Yeah, sorry. Didn't mean to seem like I was ignoring that post. I just figured I should probably say that I'm not one of the people in this thread who buys new flagships, because my general phone budget impacts my options and needs. Also, after making that post about SD cards, my SD card started acting up tonight while using camscanner to get some school stuff scanned in. Not sure if it was camscanner, my SD card, or my phone, but it definitely could have been the SD card. My phone is also a 4-year-old piece of poo poo, though. I got the moto x gen 2 and its a lively piece of kit. Using it right now in fact! Only problem is, I used the migration tool to bring over my contacts etc but now when I get a text message it comes up as <PERSONS NAME>(1), like its a copy or something. I think it might be related to the fact that half my contact information is from google and the other half from yahoo mail (as in telephone number from Google , email address from yahoo but on the same contact) Any ideas how to resolve which isn't a factory reset? TIA

Check your contacts to make sure the same number isn't listed twice in each for some reason. I've had issues with merging contacts that resulted in similar problems before.

My friend has an S5 that she bought outright from AT&T. She had it unlocked and it's working on T-Mobile, but she wants the AT&T stuff removed. It's still on 4.4.4 and it gives a failure message when checking for updates. Is there a way I can flash it to a T-Mobile or unbranded ROM? If not, can I at least update it? I don't want to root it but if that's required I can go ask in that thread (ugh). I found this site but it has a RapidGator link with a rar and I don't trust that poo poo one bit.

I found a used XT1053 Developer edition Moto X for $195, is there any reason I shouldn't jump on it? I know that would be high for a Verizon model, but the T-Mobile ones are more expensive all around.
