Based on what I know playing Dynasty Mode/Be a GM in the previous games, I think it's because Toronto was under the cap floor to begin the season. Since they can't have them be under the floor, the game will automatically make all salaries on Toronto's roster increase in order to make them cap compliant. This, in turn, makes Felix's salary rise.

This is more or less based on the fact I dicked around with a custom team in several NHL games, and had all my original players salaries increase a ton when I left the cap on because I would have been way under the floor otherwise. I could be wrong, though.

I literally never knew this game included a cap floor. In years past, I would have star players get huge raises randomly, even when they weren't ending/renewing contracts. (You can't renew a contract/do extensions at all until the contract expires)

It's really rad. :) I'm also way more invested into something like this than I'd ever thought I would be. I also love freaking out my girlfriend with trade updates from BAP-iverse; when I simply said "oh wow, Jamie Benn is with the Devils now" she about lost her poo poo, it was great.
