My dad worked on Dusty's house. Dusty offered him a beer. My dad does not drink. Dusty told him to sit down and have a soda then, and bought the entire construction crew dinner that night via pizza delivery. He spent the whole time bullshitting with them apparently (while he was there) and wasn't afraid to help them tote poo poo around when they were rushing to beat a storm. It's one of my dad's favorite stories and he was so loving sad to hear Dusty passed.

The first time I ever saw Dusty was in those Son of a Plumber/Common Man vignettes WWF did. I found out years later it was intended as a rib on Dusty/an attempt to bury him, but all I can tell you is that even as a kid who grew up on bodybuilder/musclemen like Hogan and Warrior and knew NOTHING about Dusty in the NWA, I was immediately drawn in by the man's obvious charisma and flair. He took those polka dots to the pay window all right
