I can't pull up a photo at the moment because the Japanese auction systems are down for maintenance, but there's a panel perfect R32 GTR that has done 15,000km up for auction in Japan tomorrow.

It's rated a 4.5 and the interior is incredible. Clearly this thing has been someone's baby.

Fox sports had an uninterrupted stream of #64's dash cam the entire race, that V8 produces a really glorious noise. It was the only coverage of the race they didn't gently caress up.

Added comedy: two Ferrari's caught on fire (fueling accidents, but still). And one aston martin (blown engine).

I was listening to Radio Le Mans for most of the race and any time one of the Vettes came into the pit, you could tell. It sounded like some monstrous hellbeast roaring and snorting around. It's such a distinctive sound compared to the other cars.

And then corner exit when they hit the gas. :allears:

I'm not a rich man but I got my '98 in '03 for $21k. I don't know if I'll ever fall into a deal like that again but I really have my heart set on a C7 one day, and they do depreciate quickly.

Edit: I forgot my whole point which was that if you see a used Corvette ask the price.

C7s and 08+ C6s (I think?) have valves that close two of the tips under 3500rpm keeping things quiet when youre just putting around.

Not really because you don't want to be getting much past 3.5k rpm before the oil is warm, and the car will be running rich and the cats wont be warm. So then you see that. The only way you wouldn't is if you pull the fuse or use a controller so all 4 stay open all the time.

Corvette as a daily isn't uncommon. 18k in a year isn't uncommon. My Focus had 82k on it when I got it, and it was 2 years old.

I don't see any reason why a Corvette wouldn't be an awesome DD.

I'm always amazed how small the '60s Continental is when I see one in real life. it's actually a bit smaller (mostly in height) than my '03 Crown Vic. The proportions and tiny wheels make it look bigger than it is.

The only guy I know who has one of these grenaded his supercharger within two weeks, so caveat emptor. The funny thing is that the guy was planning on modding the hell out of it, but he was actually (according to him, I suppose) respecting the break-in period and not driving it hard.

That said, I'd love to pick up a lightly used one in a few years when they've got the kinks all worked out.

All vettes are bad. With my current job I have worked on 70's vettes 80's vettes 90's vettes and 2007 was the latest model I worked on. They all drove like poo poo accelerated like poo poo and were uncomfortable as gently caress and im only six foot nothing. But truthfully my biggest gripe was my size twelve boot always gets stuck when shifting gears.

You have some weird opinions.

I'm 6', 210ish and wear size 11...vettes have always been the most comfortable sports car to me. And from 97 on the acceleration is good to loving awesome depending on model.

I wish I could agree with you. I do but when your given keys to a seventies stingray and told to goose it. Then it falls flat on its face your opinion becomes jaded. Then you hit your first bump and its like riding in an oxcart. The 07 I drove had NO BALLS. I floored the poo poo out of that thing at every chance and NOTHING no fun no slides no shove you in your seat NOTHING!. Then I work on a 08 Shelby mustang and mind you it wasn't fast but it was comfortable and handle like a car instead of an upgraded ox cart.

On my car one side is closed during warmup when most of that black soot is produced, so one tailpipe is darker than the other. I don't think the comments about that being babied are necessarily right.

Every 70s car is like that.

And that 07 must have been broken, then. Or all the aids were on and kicking in. Because even a base model will throw the rear end around.

Yeah, sorry; I quoted the wrong pic and was still thinking about the C7-ZR1 (which was the same shade of blue, that's what reminded me). It's highly likely the story you read is his; if he talks about also owning a CTS-V then it's probably the game guy.

There was something very wrong with that car because any modern Corvette will shake it's booty if you stab the go pedal.
