Miss Wallace posted:Can someone explain what it is? I refuse to look at Doug's face if I can help it. Can't blame you. Fourty minutes of people shouting at a mock bid for capcom. All jokes are covered up by more bidding. What could've been an interesting way to introduce and popularize the new blood ended up being a bloated mess that was way too long. That apparently took weeks. Actual weeks of people's time and effort to film, edit and write this poo poo. Oh the comments only have a few posts about the abysmal quality of the video, everyone else is too busy wanking on about how they'd reform Capcom. I think I'll avoid watching either of those two recently linked videos. Miss Wallace posted:And lastly, it was the most watched show internationally because it represented sort of the ideal American culture. Beaches, attractive people everywhere, lots of escapism. The American dream really. That sounds more like an Australian ideal. Which..come to think of it, why didn't Australia have a Baywatch style show about lifeguards? It would have made an absolute shirtload of sense, considering that there's a pretty big surf lifesaving culture here and a far higher percentage of the population lives on the coast as compared to the US. I guess that was why they had the random Australian life guard.

Didn't see it get posted here, but Linkara posted a video on Ultimate Power #1-2 http://atopthefourthwall.com/ultimate-power-1-2/ I know women in comics get drawn really sexually, but WOW, I have never seen a comic where everyone is literally traced from porn. Also, glad to hear he's enjoying Ms. Marvel, its a good and adorable comic. And wow, Reed Richards really screws over a lot of people/universes

Some of the reactions over this movie are pretty goddamn stupid. Almost everyone is acting like a child because of it. It wasn't much worse than the last 2 crappy Jurassic Park movies, and if you ever thought it would've come close to Jurassic Park, you were fooling yourself. It's perfectly okay if you don't like it, by the way. I'm not talking about the people who just thought it sucked. But the people whining about the movie like it ruined something in your life and punching posters is really immature. Or like Birth.Movies.Death(Badass Digest) running 5 different "Jurassic World blows rear end!" pieces is just really annoying. Like, get over it? Just watch Jurassic Park over again. That's a better choice anyway because that movie is legit

The sad part about JP3 is that a ton of effort went into the production but almost none of it went into the script, which pulled an Alien 3 and was rewritten while filming had already begun. Stan Winston and ILM pulled out all the stops visually for the film but it couldn't save the terrible plot and script.

Stan Winston and ILM pulled out all the stops visually for the film but it couldn't save the terrible plot and script. It's just the weirdest little epilogue of a film; I have no idea how they envisioned its place in the series. The plot is almost a complete retread of Lost World but without InGen, it almost feels like they imagined it would lead into a franchise they could make on the regular, but that just didn't happen thanks to JP4 going through development hell. From what I can tell, it looks like soon after JP3 came out, Spielberg himself had a plan for a JP4 that would have been essentially a do-over of JP3, an actual conclusion to Jurassic Park as a trilogy. But then they just couldn't keep a director attached, and none of the scripts satisfied Spielberg, so here we are. It seems similar to the problems in the development of Indiana Jones 4, and it's interesting to imagine what could have happened if those movies' fates had been reversed (Spielberg himself directs Jurassic Park 4 in 2008, and Indiana Jones gets rebooted this summer with Chris Pratt).

Jeez, I never even understood how can a completely sane modern person hate something THIS much. And why, for the love of all the gods, would you admit to punching a movie poster out of frustration? All jokes aside, this is not healthy. Nor is it funny or endearing. That's probably the reason why I quit watching every "angry reviewer" out there: their rage is almost always disproportionate and unwarranted.

Well, I probably mentioned it before, but Baywatch Hawaii was originally going to be in Australia. They had everything set up, but last minute the locals got them kicked out, saying filming would destroy the ecosystem. That's probably why they had Australian woman in the first Hawaiian season. Previous to that, they did a two-parter in Australia, which I think was a pilot pitch for the new location.

KayTee posted:oh piss off with your facts spoiling my rant. Honestly. Fuckin' nerds. They're bloody everywhere. Also the Draco was an awful retcon that could be (and frequently was) easily ignored. While OMD was a blatant editorial mandate (that was clearly being driven towards as far back as Civil War with the unmasking) that brought an end to on of the best-known couples in comics (keep in mind, Peter & MJ married before Clark & Lois) as well as bringing a screeching halt to one of the best runs of Spider-Manin years, that basically saved the book after the Byrne/Mackie nadir. Hell, a whole bunch of the writers on the books clearly weren't happy with the direction of OMD even before it was released-I mean Sensational did back-to-back stories with Aunt May (in a seance) and what was strongly hinted to be God himself telling Peter to move on and life his life with Mary Jane. It doesn't help the replacement status quo was a blatantly obvious failed attempt to recapture the lighting-in-a-bottle that was the Lee/Romita/Conway years. I mean, of the new supporting cast/new love interests (plus resurrected Harry, because god knows everyone wanted HIM back), who actually stuck around? Hell, I'm fairly certain Carlie (who stuck around the longest) was only ejected by Dan Slott because he had a new love interest to force on the readers. Well, that's my big baby nerd rant about your big baby nerd rant about a nerd being a big baby.

JMS Spidey is really good, but I'd say that's only true up to a point, and it's the point where JRJR stops pencilling it. JMS, after all, wrote Sins Past, and he was on board with breaking up Peter and MJ - he just thought it was a really stupid way to do it (apparently, his own idea was worse, but I don't know what it was so I won't say that it was or wasn't). (I'd rather re-read J. M. DeMatteis Spidey () or Roger Stern Spidey () than JMS Spidey, I think, but that's neither here nor there.) I'm not sure if OMD is worse than Identity Crisis. Probably about on par with it. They're both bad, but bad in different ways.
