If I sold my house for the same amount as my neighbor and payed off the mortgage I'd pocket over 400k. Lol i just finished a spotcheck with a newly qualified sailor, to test whether he knew the material he was qualified on. I gave him a week+ to prepare, and I told him that I would walk him through the spotcheck before hand as many times as he wanted, at any time. I gave him all the reference manuals, and I even gave him a copy of the spot-check sheet I was going to be using, with all the references for each question, down to the sentence, where to find the answers. He failed the spotcheck miserably and blamed me for setting him up for failure, when I sat there and watched him gently caress around on the internet during work hours all week. I love being a first class.

Alright, well I was given my two week notice today. I get to pick a CREO 1 job, have my CDB and have the CO sign me away to a new A-school because there are no orders available for my year group/rank combo with my NEC. Out of the list, I chose IT(SS) since I had to pick one. How lovely is Pensacola as an NCO? Also, IT-wise, I hear you can lean radio or lean networking. What's the factor in going one way or the other? If I reach Groton in August I'll have a little over 14 months as an ITS.

Pcola sucks just a little less as an E-5 than it did going through the first time as an E-2. Less liberty restrictions, little more leeway. Same dumb rules you will probably have to follow. The CT schoolhouse was pretty strict about them. Not sure about the IT schoolhouse.

I have a question. Has anyone here flown OCONUS for leave. I apparently have to fly over to the family estate, which means I have to start planning an Africa trip, but how bad is it, I would be flying to Uganda and I am not heading north (Though the LRA got pushed outh) or to the South as I am not a diamond/uranium/logging smuggler, and the normal department of state website says it is "Critical" risk of crime and high risk of terrorism, so how bad would it be to try and go there.

You're 100% sure you're related to that African Prince? If it's a critical country it's not impossible but it'll be god drat hard. You'll have to get the go-ahead from AFRICOM and that can take a few weeks. One of my sailors went to Nicaragua recently and approval from SOUTHCOM took us about two months, and the CO wouldn't approve the leave without it.

You're going to have to find the Foreign Clearance Guide - it's UNCLAS. It details all the stuff you're going to need to do to go pretty much anywhere. At a minimum, you'll need to submit an APACS request (don't ask me what it stands for anymore but it's how AFRICOM will clear you), do multiple NKO/JKO kind of things, submit a SERE package, and talk to your security office or SSO depending on the level of clearance you hold. You're probably looking at a multiple-month process. The FCG tells you literally everything you need to know, including POCs for in-country organizations like State. If you go, when you get back you'll probably get to enjoy a battery of vaccinations.

I need some paperwork advice and maybe a little bit more than just that. CTN TECHAD just bounced my conversion package for use of "Psycho pharmaceuticals" and says I'm not going to be allowed to any IDC rating. Here is the kicker, it was a stomach medication with no effects or uses outside of stomach medication(Bentyl for anyone that cares, it slows lower intestines movement speed). I'm no longer on the medication, but he responded with "just being prescribed" is the problem. Something isn't sitting right with this, I've combed MANMED with no mention of anything involving it, the requirements make no mention of it for the rating, not listed on any website involved with conversions or the rating. MILPERSMAN isn't providing any more information. I already hold the required clearances and served in positions beyond what CTN would require security wise. I'm not giving up on this until I find it in writing and to see if it is waiver able. I've seen people on anti-depressants get into and maintain IDC ratings, but some stomach meds for a short time are a no-go? This reeks to high heaven and I'm not letting this go.

I wonder if NAMI would be involved since it wasn't prescribed for the mood disorders it's usually given for. Did they want a psychiatric waiver or did he just say "no because reasons"? A roundabout and probably time consuming way would be to get psychiatric clearance, but that'd probably extend your time waiting for papers. Maybe getting a memo from the prescribing provider in support of his diagnosis for it to be prescribed on the basis of the intestinal movement controls.

I have a diagnosed anxiety condition and am on various anti depressants to deal with it. I converted from CTT to CTN. If you have an active SCI clearance, that hasn't been pulled for medical reasons, the tech ad is full of poo poo. Bentyl isn't really even psychoactive beyond possible addiction potential like everything else. Edit: sure he didn't read it as Fentanyl or something? Clearance is well and maintained, I've even discussed it with with the security officer prior to DQ and they had no issues with the meds and clearance.
