Also he points out that the transmission shifts fine because in those if you don't use the special ATF +4 the transmission will seem like it works fine for a few hundred/thousand miles then shits itself spectacularly. And I believe the upmarket models had the "learning" transmission, that was all kinds of complete garbage that made the car seem weird, because the learning period for the transmission was so long you were putting in a new battery before it got through the process so it was always "experimenting" with you. On second thought, gently caress that car.

There was one of these at a place I worked, same basic van model and color too. It was obvious as hell in their lot but I could see it blending in. It had a half roll of TP on the dash.

I used one of those uhauls about 10 years ago. I was told not to take it on any highway at all, even with an empty load. Once I got my entire apartment in there it could barely hit 40mph on country back roads. It was unnerving.

They did the same thing with Comanches, but whatever coachbuilder built those did it sorta-right. 4.0L engine and they put dana 60 fullfloat rearends in them instead of the stock dana 44 1/2 ton or worse, dana 35 1/16 ton rear diff. e: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1092613

I believe that the dolphins had different cams than the standard 22. Still slow as hell, but still faster accelerating than with stock cams. I could be wrong, that's just what my friend with a 4-runner said. He's a car nerd, but most of his info is from forums.

It's actually a great alternative to a Ford or Chevy when the axles aren't breaking and trying to kill you. It may not be fast but a 22R is gonna be bullet proof and fuel efficient. kastein posted:They did the same thing with Comanches, but whatever coachbuilder built those did it sorta-right. 4.0L engine and they put dana 60 fullfloat rearends in them instead of the stock dana 44 1/2 ton or worse, dana 35 1/16 ton rear diff. Well, at least when it comes to those sketchy dudes who haul and recycle poo poo loads of cardboard the "Toyota That Could" holds up a lot better than any half ton pickup. There's nothing quite like seeing a 199X F-150 long bed running down the highway on the bump stops and you're like, "Hmm, I didn't think a wheel on a straight axle could have camber." Buy me and haul 2 tons of wet cardboard!!!! Joe Mama fucked around with this message at 19:50 on Jun 20, 2015 |
