E: I would suggest that while you sit here and ponder this, you take a look @ the sugar values for something like sweet baby rays vs maple syrup. They're the same, but at least maple syrup doesnt have HFCS. And yeah, sweet baby rays is awful but if we were talking about that you wouldn't have chimed in at all. yup, you know bbq sauce and maple syrup are two totally comparable flavors. like how fish sauce and butter are comparable because they're both salty or gin and fetus tree because they're both bitter

it's general practice to serve the pancakes on a separate plate. that is done to prevent the syrup from mixing in with the other stuff. yeah, jimmy dean makes maple flavored frozen premade pig-in-blankets, there are people who are into that poo poo, you're probably one of them. that doesn't make it not gross.

Man, You guys are getting super pedantic about this. I personally don't like maple syrup because it's 100% sweet, something that I don't care for on a burger. BBQ sauce generally has other dimensions (like salty, smoky, and acidic) that balance out the sweet. Same story with maple bacon, which is salty, smoky, and sweet. I just think syrup, especially in the quantity shown, would absolutely trample the other flavors with cloying sweetness. A thought - rather than dousing the burg with syrup, maybe brush a thin smear on the burg while cooking, below the cheese? That way you get a hint of sweet playing with all the other flavors.

Having it as one element of many on a burger is not remotely uncommon and frankly I'm actually surprised people are reacting like this.

Well I think the amount of maple syrup put on that burg was too much, but there IS regular bacon on it already, so you're essentially adding deconstructed maple bacon when you're putting that burg together. I think it'd be good, overall, just reduce the amount of syrup quite a bit. I think a drizzle would be okay. Also did anyone else notice and find it funny that after all the trouble of putting together the admittedly high-effort production in the construction of that gif, that when the syrup was poured onto the burg, it immediately congealed and the majority of it just slid down the side of it? Way to gently caress that up, guy.

I've been avoiding this thread for too long... I'm a sucker for food porn, even burger food porn. I'm glad that Fatburger got mentioned on the first page, it's one of the few things I miss about SoCal! And George Foreman agrees with me: http://articles.latimes.com/1991-02-01/sports/sp-204_1_evander-holyfield As for the waffle burger, it's a bit "meat ship", but the presentation of the GIF is so food-porney that I have to approve.
