Ha ha wow, that's ringing a lot of alarm bells right there. I actually like 3, but Bethesda can't write and make good missions to save their lives so doubling down on that weakness will only bring tears.

8, 7, and 3 are my top DQs. 1 is fun to knock out at like 4x speed on a Saturday with some beer and friends, 2 has some neat ideas but is a slog, 4 would've been better if it didn't have the Generic RPG Questing second half of the game and was all little side-stories of minor heroes in the world, 5 was really solid but unremarkable other than the "take control of your dad in an unwinnable fight" thing Getting how game stories should be told way ahead of its time, and I haven't played 6 because the run was absolutely tiny and I don't want to pay a premium for it at the moment. 9 had a lot of potential and is fun because it's basically DQ3-2 but needed to actually stick to its guns on changing things up.

SFD gave me this av which I'm okay with but their bizarre hate-on for the more general goon guild taking things "too seriously" by wanting to play a video game in the way that wasn't their way was really bizarre. The not-SFD goon guild in GW2 was a lot better in my experience.

I'm playing 6 right now for the first time and it's absolutely great. You don't even unlock the job system for like 9 hours, the game is pretty huge

The job system is cool but I felt pretty disappointed by 6 by the end of it. It's still a great game but it doesn't really stand up to 5 or 7.

Speaking of FF13 for the PC: why? Seriously why did they port it and not anything else? Is the engine just "easy" to make cross platform or what? It just seemed like a bit of a silly decision considering the game's poor reception.

also It's a 60GB download because of all the uncompressed prerendered cut scenes lmao

Because FF13 is good.

I have only started playing DQ games recently. I beat 1 and 5, played a couple of hours of 2 and 3 and am now working on 6 with a cart of 4 tucked away somewhere. They're all pretty interesting (even though I gave up on 2 and 3 because a good NES RPG is still easily overshadowed by any RPG made like 3 years later). I can't wait to play VIII since I've always heard it's one of the best PS2 games ever

Find a way to emulate the SNES version of 3 with the translation patch and it holds up really well. 7 might be my favorite, but it probably says a lot about it that even though I feel that way about it I've only played it once. It's a beast of a game that took me a legit 95 hours to finish when most supposedly 50 or 75 hour RPGs take me about 25.

Yeah the classes should have showed up about 10 hours earlier, and the intro lasts an insanely long time. Still an amazing game though.

I hope Fallout 4 won't suck and I don't think it will, but if it does suck, it'll be in a way that mods can easily fix. That's something that has been concurrent with every Fallout game ever made and I doubt it will change with this one.

Yeah you're right, I just said "every fallout game" because what I meant was "every fallout game except for 3" and that's how human beings talk.

The writing in Fallout 4 will be just as meh-worthy as 3's if not more so because of Troy Baker-ification but like 3 it will still be a great game regardless, even if it requires some tweaking to not crash every five minutes.

I'm fairly certain that's what I did with 3. It was neat and I was enjoying it but the mechanics were still kinda bare bones enough that I lost interest after a few hours. 7 seems like an absolute monster of a game and I'll probably save it for last, so I can maybe finish it before DQXI is announced

I played a LOT of fallout 2 when it was released, it was probably one of my favorite games ever. It was really something finally seeing that world in 3d, and the first time I got into that supermarket and killed those raiders in 3d, being underpowered, sneaking and shooting heads left and right, with that cinematic camera and stuff, was just crazy fun. But all of that novelty got old really fast and just like with every bethesda game it was just a slow spiral of disappointment as I realized that every quest was completely isolated from the other, there is no "world", it's just some very isolated "levels" with one or two quests involving more than one area.

This was basically my experience with FO3 too. That feels when you realise the world is a meaningless disconnected void ...

Some teeth long for ripping, gleaming wet from black dog gums. So you keep your eyes closed at the end. You don't want to see such a mouth up close. before the bite, before its oblivion in the goring of your soft parts, the speckled lips will curl back in a whinny of excitement. You just know it.
