we have an option to establish easy to use ACH donations / dues payments
on donate.noisebridge.net, but before I do was hoping folks could give
feedback as to whether this would be useful for them.

also of note: the fees we'd pay on the transfers would also be lower
than using a credit card.

if this is something that'd be useful to you please do let me know. if a
bunch of folks get back to me saying they'd like this then I'll do it
sooner rather than later

My $0.02 input:

ACH is horrifying, so if the service used for this kept us from having to do
any security around PCI or KYC, that'd be perfect

This would be really good for the 3 or so folks who have a bank account but
(mysteriously) don't have a debit card

I'd use it since then I wouldn't have to worry about updating my card details
when new cards are reissued or my existing one is stolen by roving gangs of
libertarians or government thugs

Good for large sum corporate donations

Hella cheaper, especially for recurring payments that can go on for years

If this could be used to convert paper checks into e-checks that'd be one less
reason to hit up the bank

ACH is instant, so we'd have money in our account sooner, but I don't think
the lag between "someone agreed to give us money" and "their money is
available for us to spend" (aka settlement) is a pressing concern despite
being broke.

Pulling up my ACH credentials is a bear but usually only happens once and I
never have to worry about it for the next few years.

+1 for ACH, but then again it sounds like you'll be the one implementing it

I think this would come after adding "user accounts" or some such
functionality to the donations site such that you can actually see your
recurring donations / alter / cancel them. This would cover any KCY
stuff. (what I have in mind is v. basic, so not much work)

We wouldn't need to deal with any PCI concerns, it's similar to the
setup we have currently to accept CC donations.

So far a few folks have said it'd be useful, so I guess the plan is
a) add some form of identification / authentication
b) add ACH support

The food supply needs some federal policy changes before we can even muck with details. Sugar price floors need to get the gently caress out of my country. What you are doing by using proposals is an act of sedition. I didn't even know what sedition was before this or how to deal with it. I looked at the Canadian Criminal Code to figure out how Canada deals with it. If you were to do this to our government you'd be guiltly of a crime and face jailtime. I see that no differently the what you are doing to VHS. You are causing a huge shitstorm by making proposals that you never intended to follow through with so you can get things your way, and it's ruining everyones moral. Stop it.
