Administration wins, to put it another way. by Amy Howe 10:10 AM This means that individuals who get their health insurance through an exchange established by the federal government will be eligible for tax subsidies. Six are the Chief, Kennedy, Ginsburg, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan. Scalia of course dissents.

Ben Shapiro @benshapiro 21s21 seconds ago And, in another non-shocker, the Supreme Court -- led once again by that staunch conservative Roberts -- upholds Obamacare. Ben Shapiro @benshapiro 41s42 seconds ago No need to wonder whether Chief Justice Roberts was a disastrous pick. He was. And yes, I told you so at the time.

F5'ing the Freep thread for more hate against Roberts. A great day.

Due to seniority, if there is another decision today, it will also be written by Roberts. edit: probably it for the day though

Bring on the mandatory gay marriage with socialized healthcare benefits!
|
# ? Jun 25, 2015 15:11 |

No more opinions, so Kennedy is still likely writing the gay marriage case.

Thats it but wow were those HUGE victories

Here's the King decision: http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/14pdf/14-114_qol1.pdf Scalia is salty: Words no longer have meaning if an Exchange that is not established by a State is “established by the State.”

just saw a tweet in which somebody lamented that King didn't win and result in massive negative fallout for the GOP. I don't know if that's accelerationist or just dumb.

Want that Scalia opinion. AP reporting that the opinions of the justices hold that healthcare subsidies are not dependent on where you live.
|
# ? Jun 25, 2015 15:16 |
I'm so drat relieved right now. I was sure they'd uphold the subsidies, but you really never know. Yay, I get to stay healthy and not broke!

If Obergefell v. Hodges makes gay marriage legal in all 50 states, it'll be annoying for future history students, because it's so much harder to remember than Loving v. Virginia. But otherwise it'll be awesome, and the Republican tears will be so glorious.

I can't wait to see Republicans arguing today that the court made a huge mistake and should have taken away healthcare from millions of people because of a drafting error.
