Japan's new event has Golden Saucer/weekend-grade daily login prizes. Including a 5 star staff. Bobulus posted:I did a 3x pull on Squall's banner, hoping to get a FF8 sword. Keep it and give it to Lightning and you will have a back row spellblade user. Seriously, for the Nth time don't combine non-unique 5 star relics. We're lacking some of the gun users but there's plenty of useful ones and even if you don't use Irvine in FF13 content for whatever reason you can toss the guns on Lightning and Sazh. Or use two gun users in 90% of content, sitting in the back row doing solid damage. Having a pair of 5 star guns to toss around would be more useful than a pair of random swords. the Orb of Zot posted:So yeah, if anyone plays Japan, I pity you. Cecil is dirt easy. 100% of his attacks are physical. Just bring in a single character with Retaliate 10/10 and he'll kill himself.

Granaldo runs are legit. I'm getting a G. Orb once every two runs, which fits with the percentages. Maybe I'll be able to hone Bladeblitz due to this.

What would be more advantageous of the following: • power through all the story missions and elites • force myself at the current event I'm leaning towards the first to make sure I unlock all the characters and get heaps of rewards along the way, as well as stamina and mithril. I did get far enough to get Irvine and squall's crystals though.

The non boss stages are easy if you have the memory crystals you shouldn't have a problem with the trash only stages cheap orbs as a reward. I wouldn't attempt the last 2 stages (the boss ones) if you don't have a solid group / plan. They are not easy, the last two is kind of where all the events make elite a huge pain. You can clear classic on the event without any issue though if you haven't done that already.

If you just really need wind orbs because you're trying to make/hone Bladeblitz, clear the event so you can farm the first EX stage.

I have determined that I have over 1400 stamina's worth of Elites left to do. It comes out to over 71 hours of stamina! Yaaay..... yay. Ugh, I'll keep killing Granaldo instead. Although that is 5 more stamina and 22 more Mythril. Hmm...

Yeah, while I know I can get a few more stamina from doing more elites, 105 is already quite good, and I have cumulatively earned probably 25 greater orbs already, including 8 greater wind (and getting Bladeblitz to rank 2). I doubt it will get me enough to R3 Bladeblitz or anything but this is really too good to pass up.

If you have over 100 stamina, you should probably do enough more elites to get to 4 gems for a stamina slingshot (save the elites that only cost ~50, or any normals you have left), and then go farm Granaldo. When the next event drops, you can clear half of it on normal, do one more classic/elite, and then clear the rest of it in a sitting. Rinse and repeat for future events until stamina is maxed.

Red XIII will be part of the event as well (his Diamond Hairpin for Lunatic High is part of the banner) which means we'll prooooooobably get his MC as well, months and months ahead of Japan's schedule for it.Evil Fluffy posted:I already beat him, but you can retaliate against the dark wave aoe ttack? Yep. Dark Wave is a physical attack, so Retaliate works against it. There are some physical attacks which ignore the Taunt skill/Sentinel SB, but so far as I know every physical attack misses and causes a counterattack against a character with Retaliate active. Is Red XIII even minimally useful as a character sans relic? I get the impression that his stats/skill selection is kind of a confused mess. Like, second rate Tyro or something.

Red's not a very good character, alas. He's a melee range support character with almost equal (on the low end for viability in both) physical and magical attack power. He's got Black 3, White 1, Physical 3, and Support 5, but he can only equip fist weapons, hairpins, hats, helmets, and bangles. Spoiler alert: there's exactly two weapons he can equip with any magic on them whatsoever (the 3* hairpin has a little magic and his second 5* hairpin is a hybrid like Terra's Enhancer), so his Black 3 and 121 magic at level 65 are only useful for support magic like Stop.

Yeah, but I feel like having the Sentinel Tome would be better than the pin for the ability flexibility it offers (doing the Squall EX, I spent a ton of time just figuring out how to get everything I needed onto people-- Tyro carrying two unrelated things would've been helpful), and that LH is something you'd want to cast Round 1 whereas Sentinel is something that is often better used later in a fight. For Ex fights that'll matter. I'd rather have Sentinel on the team and bring the LH on summon. I just spent all my mythril trying for Revolver, so I will probably be saving for a later draw.

I spent a ton of mythril getting my Sentinel's Grimoire because Tyro is just straight up a better character than Red XIII in this game. I'll get my Lunatic Highs from my friends list. I'm going to try to pick up Sazh's Vega, though, because Sazh is actually an excellent support character (Black 3, White 3, Physical 2, Support 5, and can attack from the back row and wear both light and heavy armor).

I don't know how they expect you to master some of these stages. I lose two medals on damage taken because... the bosses actually put up a decent fight? Jeesh. So I'll have some extra stamina after I finish the boss rush tonight for XP DAILY GRINDING. Should I; a) Grind Bard from 30ish to 50 to get his RM b) Grind BM from like level 7 to try and get his RM c) Grind WM from like level 12 to try and get the RM I can probably only get away with one of them because I can't spare two spots for tagalongs. Also I really wanted the FFXII event. Boooo. Should I blow my 20 mythril or so on this event pull?
