From the China.jpg thread: colored powder (for Holi) at a rave ended up being pretty flammable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7TSqFNmMmw for people burning. In the comments it said about 130 injured, 97 had serious injuries, and 20 were in the ICU (probably very extensive burns). Three-Phase fucked around with this message at 05:11 on Jun 28, 2015 |

Seriously, gently caress Holi. "It's my religious holiday, so I get to throw colored powder of unknown origin in your face! Don't care if it gets in your eyes or you breathe a big cloud of it in! Also, good luck getting it out of your clothes, which are garbage now!".

So since it happened in asia the victims now just live with their horrible new burnt bodies and carry on about their lives, right.

At the moment I haven't heard of any actually dead from the incident. It seems that the flames were fairly low temperature and/or not a burning material that would stick to anyone and be difficult to put out, so even though everyone there is literally running through an ocean of fire a good deal of them made it out with non-crippling injuries.

It was held at a water park which probably helped, everyone headed for the nearest pool as quickly as they could. One really terrifying thing I heard however is that because it was held at a water park, most people were not wearing shoes. There were footsteps made of skin that burned off probably just rumor at this point

oh god near the end you can kind of see someone trying to roll out the flames on their clothes but that kicks up more dust and the flames get bigger

So, horsechat: my friend used to ride horses and always says that it is amazing how such a massive animal can adequately function with the brain of a rabbit. Apparently one of the biggest dangers you can face while riding in the wild is an errant white plastic bag floating around - it just lights the lamp "FREAK THE gently caress OUT" in the horse's brain and it will do its damnedest to throw you off and then run away as fast as it can. When horses panic, they will not stop running and kicking until they find a calm spot and start to feel safe again. Which makes the people jumping in front of them to try in vain to stop them just look even more hilariously stupid.

I was kinda wondering how an organisation publishing hard hitting reconstructions like that and calling for more federal regulation of industry could keep pushing that kind of radical message in the US without getting neutered.

Every time someone tried to stop it, they added another minute of panic to it. Also, that last horse might have broken a leg, given the way it fell and was acting after it was restrained. For a horse show, nobody seemed to know how to act around them. Blistex fucked around with this message at 08:26 on Jun 29, 2015 |
