you can sit here and talk about hypothetical nonsense, but the fact of the matter is that the us is rich and has been rich, and yet the us youth system, domestic league, and international team, has been garbage, is garbage, and will continue to be garbage. there's nothing changing that any more than there was in 1990. if you're confident of a us team winning the world cup in your lifetime, i have a bridge to sell you.

of course, you can have all that stuff and still have a bad international team (e.g. Spain before it started winning tournaments famously had great players and 0 titles for decade after decade).

and you can have a good team without that - belgium has a v. good team with lovely infrastructure, just lucky with a generation of players

what I was trying to get at is that football is one of the only chances many kids have of getting out of their town in the south, and to do so they must subject themselves to a realistic risk of dying like they're some sort of gladiator or something. also there's a school-to-prison pipeline that sends kids to prison for seemingly trifling things in order to provide cheap labor to the PIC (prison industrial complex)

another chance you have of getting out of your economically depressed town is joining the military

i can tell you all about why soccer hasn't been a thing in the us until recently and why trajectory for a us world cup win in my lifetime is way more likely than you're making it. (especially as the population of Hispanics increases and concerns about football also increase.) like when there's loving youth soccer leagues in bfe west virginia that are more popular than the pee wee football, i think its pretty fair to say we've turned a pretty big corner.

like you literally just said the us won't spend money on sports like the Spaniards did. which is hilarious since literally half the teams in the nfl have a greater value and operating budget than one of the wealthiest teams in the world.

no, i said the us won't spend money on soccer like spaniards do. or germans do. or the english do. or the portuguese do. case in point, the league leader and consistent top team in the mls, the seattle sounders, have a total market value of 16 million euros. borussia dortmund, perennial second place in the german bundesliga, and a team that has nowhere near the talent of bayern, has a total market value of 321 million euros.

actually yes, paying taxes is a better metric than '% graduated'

look at loving texas. schools ain't teaching folks to read, they're graduating illiterates to meet their metrics.

If your school is negative in tax revenue generated, your teacher pension should be forefiet

One of the interesting things about ~~THE CLOUD~~ is that Photoshop is, as far as I can tell, no longer the most pirated software around.

that's more because Adobe straight up hosts a fully featured version of one of the more recent Creative Suites for download, for free, with no copy protection.

it's creative suite version 2, which does well enough for most non-serious work and ok at really hardcore work. and i think there's a licensing thing there that says a company can't use it for corporate purposes. but lets face it most of the piracy wasn't for companies

you're just saying because we haven't that we won't. which is silly. it completely ignores the growth of the sport and everything that points to it continuing to grow in the states. I am not saying it will ever be as big of business as what the NFL is now . i am just saying you're being silly for thinking that the us can NEVER EVER BE GOOD AT SOCCEER BECAUSE IT HASN'T HISTORICALLY
