Was thumbing through netflix and it recommended some stuff based on my watching Revelation Road 3, my favorite being Brother White, another DARW joint, where a pastor named "white" goes to an inner city church to teach the blacks about Jesus. It also recommended Green Street Hooligans 3, which is just a lovely bloodsport-wannabe movie with Scott Adkins, and American Warships, which is about a naval vessel fighting aliens.

The thing I love about that premise is how little sense it makes. The cultural stereotype is that Black people are really hardcore Christians, not that they need the grace of white people. It would make way more sense if it were about a Black preacher who came to a mostly white, secularized neighborhood and tried to stir them up.

Not to mention it the passage that supposedly says homosexuals won't inherit the kingdom of heaven the word isn't the typical Greek word for describing gay guys (the concept of gay didn't really exist because everybody was doing butt stuff) but the word specifically refers to males. Lesbians are in the clear!

More than one anti-homosexuality act said nothing about lesbians because it either literally never occurred to the people passing it or they figured lesbians could simply be raped and impregnated anyway. Makes me glad to be going to a Christian church where the priest was wearing a rainbow stole the weekend of the Supreme Court decision.

Every time he “comes out” to a new person, he’s met with questions like “Oh… so do you actually believe that stuff?” and “Don’t most Christians think gays are going to hell?”" Boy these fuckers really want to pretend that they're the ones really being persecuted don't they? That’s when the scariest non-witnessing part of the movie happens. A giant, red-faced man starts banging on Diana’s car window and yelling. We can’t make out the words, but Diana is screaming, understandably, as she is stuck and a man is presumably going to assault her in her car. The man backs up, punches through her window, and grabs her. What’s happening?! We’re terrified for Diana! He starts to pull her out of the car, and then we see what’s up: She was stopped on train tracks, and he was pulling her out of the way of an oncoming train. Do you smell the metaphor coming? How can this bit be anything but apologia for the shittiest of anti-gay Christians? Dr. Killjoy fucked around with this message at 01:23 on Jul 9, 2015 |

For conservative movies that are mainstream and not Bibleman levels of explicit, how's Faster starring the Rock back in 2010? If you've seen it you know what I'm talking about in Act 3. But the movie was a pretty good deconstruction of the standard grizzled action hero out for revenge that stood on its own IMHO.

Also, Ray Comfort's book "Scientific Facts in the Bible" is a hilarious read that an evangelical day shift coworker left for us night shift jerks. Speaking of persecution persecution complexes, the oilfield work is taking a real hit down here so people have been getting layed off left and right. So when his turn came to be on the chopping block he knows for sure it's because us loving latino mexicans are evil conniving catholics running off the good and humble Christian. The last thing he left on the desk after he left on his last day was a chick track titled LOCO LOBO where an Evangelical in a Native community is persecuted and almost killed by a hired assassin/witch doctor.

Ya know, normally i ask whether people like that know why they're not deemed worth enough to keep. the only place i've seen that sort of religious bullshit get a free pass was at a job where the management staff and a few coworkers were all fundies that attended the same church. Needless to say when the owner overheard them all pondering whether he was one of those "radical muslims" the staff started to thin out a bit. As far as I know the owner never expressed any religious belief ever and was a pretty good guy. Used to piss the managers off when he'd come in and say hi to me by name and then say hi to everyone else as a group. I assumed they figured we were in cahoots since they knew i was an evil agnostic/atheist at the time

IMDB posted:Tom Canboro is a police detective with a Christian sister, Eileen, a brother, Calvin, a wife, Susan, and eccentric brother-in-law, Jason. One night, Jason seemingly goes insane and tries to kill Eileen, calling her a "hater". Tom soon realises this may be a conspiracy going as far as devil worship, but as he speeds in his car to get help, he suddenly loses control and crashes. Waking up in a strange hospital, he finds years have passed and people all over the world are wearing the mark of 666 on their right hands, and all those who don't are being killed off. Franco Macalusso, the believer in world peace Jason was fond of, now controls the world, and is trying to bring the world together as it was at the tower of Babel. Meanwhile, the "Haters" or Christians are hiding out and airing TBN tapes on the air for people to realise the Messiah is really the Antichrist, but their leader, Helen Hannah, is arrested... Detective Tom is played by ***GARY BUSEY*** His sister and her brother are played by Margot Kidder and Howie Mandel, both of whom claim to have been unaware it was a Christian film until well into filming. I strongly recommend checking this out. I think I or someone else mentioned it earlier in the thread but definitely check it out, it's "great."

I've asked it of other religious moral crusades, if your moral crusade requires immoral acts to push it along, is it really that moral?

This may seem like a strange question, but I know there's a born again belief that grey aliens are actually demons and alien abductions are just a Satanic trick somehow, I guess to try and make people think that there's a 'scientific' explanation for Biblical truths or something like that. I'd think that idea would be fertile ground for a Christian horror movie... does anyone know if a film with that plot has ever been made?
