So I just noticed a game called The Amber Throne got released on Steam today: http://store.steampowered.com/app/382380/ Looks like they took the art design from Saga Frontier 2 and mashed it up with a Suikoden-ish aesthetic world. If I'm reading correctly, it's an RPGmaker game though. It's pretty enough I might give it a try if any reviews come back positive.

Yeah, Amber Throne is RPG Maker. They confirmed it on the steam forums and the fact it runs in 640x480. Looks to have a fair more effort than usual put into it. Might pick it up tonight.

Streamed about 2+ hours of Amber Throne. So far I'd say if you like the art style it's worth the price. Combat system is somewhat interesting in that some enemies have different stances that you can force them out of by using certain attacks (i.e., using an attack that removes defense buffs on a shielded enemy). There's definitely some encounters that when you potentially first come across them can be pretty rough if you don't have a couple levels or the right skills on hand. The only big issue I came across so far is trying to interact with an obelisk hidden behind the waterfalls in the Divide. It showed "_ _ _ _ _" and then I couldn't do anything else. Effectively softlocked the game and had to load a file. E: Tweeted the dev, said part requires typing letters. Blinded by Light is perfect because it's exactly timed for the violins to kick in right as you're about at your first Paradigm Shift which is coincidentally exactly when most battles are "on." Crimson Blitz basically blows its wad immediately and that just doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you're fighting one single gremlin. LR has plenty of other battle tracks though so like whatever but I'm just saying the pacing is part of what makes BBL perfect.
