I thought the organizers did a good job, it's hard to stop a race but when you're out of ambulances it's probably the right call. Also, those green barriers out of nowhere made my rear end clench. e: Cancellara out, broken vertebrae. wide stance fucked around with this message at 20:28 on Jul 6, 2015 |

Peloton needs to be smaller. Less teams or less riders per team. Thoughts?

Less riders per team would make for more attractive racing I think. It would only increase safety if they don't add another small (french) team, of course.

I don't know if this was a good stage, it was certainly interesting in the amount of drama, but not the good kind of drama. Also I look forward to seeing Froome beat the classics specialists on Fleche next year.

Of course the TDF makes ESPN due to the crash today. Also not really sure how much you can extrapolate from Froome dropping Contador today on a 1km climb. Most climbs in the tour arent close to 19% and Contador doesnt tend to do as well on those absurdly tough pitches if memory serves. Of course maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Froome said that short, high grade climbs don't suit him either. I'm guessing the sustained duration climbs better suit his physiology, since his strength would seem to be cardiovascular rather than raw power in his legs.

To be fair, Astana and Movistar were pitching a fit about it too. Cancellara was in a really bad position when the crash happened for someone in the yellow jersey. Trek tactics ftw.

Yeah. I saw them giving Prudhome some poo poo. I was just chuckling to see Richie Porte up front crunching away on the big ring the moment the race was de-neutralized the first time. edit: I am really going to be salty if it is 17 days or Froome in yellow. Now that he is in yellow Sky is going to do everything they can to put him in the top ten in sprint stages. Which is just ridiculous to me, yesterday the scrawny mother fucker finished sixth and got green jersey points ffs. Dirk Pitt fucked around with this message at 02:24 on Jul 7, 2015 |

With Froome looking dominant in the early days like this, I think we're bound to see some crazy risk taking on the descents from Nibali and Contador. I'm looking forward to that third week.
