All aboard the knuckle train to FIST PLANET!!

Detective Thompson posted:

My friend Steve is heading out on the road for a short tour with not one but two bands! Sea and Olde Growth will be doing eight dates in a kinda funky loop from Philly to Jersey. If you got the time, check 'em out.

FRI 7/3: Philadelphia, PA
@The Pharmacy

SUN 7/5: Pittsburgh, PA
@The Shop

MON 7/6: Lexington, KY
@Al's Bar

TUE 7/7: Chicago, IL
@Mt. Happy

WED 7/8: Milwaukee, WI
@Cocoon Room

FRI 7/10: Cleveland, OH
@Euclid Tavern

SAT 7/11: Buffalo, NY
@Northrup House

SUN 7/12: New Brunswick, NJ
@TBA

Liz, one of the guitarists for Sea, also does the art for the band (among others) and she made a cool poster for the show.

She also did this killer thing for Rozamov.

Speaking of Rozamov, did anyone post the split they did with Deathkings when it came out? If not, check it out, it's pretty drat good.

https://rozamov.bandcamp.com/album/rozamov-deathkings-split-7inch

Olde Growth is so good. I'll be in NJ the 12th, I may have to go to New Brunswick to check them out!

Anyone else heard the new track from The Sword, called "High Country"? They've gone from Sabbath to Thin Lizzy on this one and I like it. It's streaming on their site now.

I've heard the whole album for press reasons. The whole thing is very much a departure from the typical trad/doom sound. Lots of heavy psych in there. One song has horns. Female vocals make a couple of appearances. Funky keyboards pop up as well.

The keyboards on Apocryphon were my favorite part of that album. I was hoping the whole thing would be like that when they released that track before the album came out. I'll have to give this new one a listen.

Please do, they'd appreciate the support. Hopefully Steve won't be burnt out from the double duty thing at that point, though I guess it's not that long of a tour. The Olde Growth Facebook page says the NJ show is at a place that seems like it's not an actual single venue, but moves around. Message the band to find out where it is, I guess.

Edit: For you UK doom dorks, Bell Witch will be coming for ya in a few months. Oh, I guess Ulcerate will be there, too.

Hey all, my band Lungs just started our pre-order and we released the first track off it today, check it out if you like. Dynamic post-metal sludgy type stuff for the most part. We're from Minneapolis, on a label called Minnesconsin Records. Proud to release this one and I thought some of you might be into it.

Didn't realize this came out at the end of June. I feel bad because I downloaded it for free from your bandcamp. I plan on buying one of your shirts though. Great stuff, heavy neurosis vibe. I'm really digging it.

I haven't seen this show up in the thread and it recently has a hold of me, I noticed it on a best of the year list so far from obelisk.net, It's Mondo Drag. It's slightly pscyh rock but has plenty of robust riffage. Great organs and synth stuff. Really good. They are definitely shooting for a vintage sound and once I got past that it really opened up for me. To top it off they are coming to town in a couple of weeks when I'll be out of town. fantastic. :/

Mondo Drag - Zephyr https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufX0YpvcgPc
Mondo Drag - Shifting Sands https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdZujdCz2pE This, with the synth, it's too good.

It's pretty solid. They didn't play anything from it though (I know, weird because it's the new album). The first set was King of the Road in its entirety, and the second was fan favorites--Evil Eye, Godzilla, Saturn III, etc.

It was a one-off show so it was probably easy to miss in Milwaukee. Some tattoo parlor's 10th anniversary party that you were supposed to RSVP for via Do312 (although people were just walking in. They only checked my ID for age even in the RSVP line). I think I got a Bandsintown email about it a few months ago.
