So my dad likes to yell and scream at his dog, pretty much anything short of physical abuse (I guess he had to move on from us now that we're in our 20s and thirties) and I'm powerless to do anything about it. Can I get some beagles (or any animal really) enjoying time spent with their owner?

Youtube suggested this Jon Oliver clip about transgender rights issues to me and it made me feel quite good to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmoAX9f6MOc I don't personally know anyone who's transgender (and ready to share that fact with me, at least), and it's a topic I feel I have a lot to learn about, but there's something heartwarming about seeing someone speak such common sense about it, and having an audience cheer them for it.

We knew eachother pretty well before she came out and I, being too comfortable and not sensitive enough, asked if she was going to go "under the knife". I could feel how stupid it was as I was saying it and the look on her face was a mix of horrified, exhausted and bemused. We talked and she let me know very tactfully that it was none of my business. We haven't talked in some time but that experience setup the framework for my understanding of trans issues and I'm thankful for it.

Frogmouths are the best When they catch sight of you staring at them (which is hard to do if you don't know they're around), they veeeeeeeeeery sloooooooooooooooooooowly follow you with their eyes as you move, like a creepy statue. They're also very hard to spook, and usually stay in branch mode even if you try to scare them!
