I jailbroke with TaiG 2.2.0, does this mean I ought to rejailbreak with the newest version of TaiG in order to patch the vulnerability I'm seeing mentioned? I can't wait for some sort of patch to come through via Cydia?

The untether fix was put up today at apt.taig.com repo.

As mentioned previously, 2.2.1 was pulled from Cydia for unspecified, but likely very good, reasons. Stick with 2.2.0, or go back to stock if you're not OK with apps potentially having root access to your device. Aside: Saurik claims the patch "just doesn't work", which leads me to believe the security flaw was an oversight that TaiG is trying to figure out how to fix. It could be something weird with XNU that got changed.

TaiG 2.3 has released, so it you haven't already jaikbroken, use that as it fixed the bug in the exploit. If you've already jailbroken, the new TaiG Untether should show as an instal within Cydia. Update and enjoy!

Just jailbroke my iPhone 6, I used that sketchy driver for x64 windows with no hang ups and promptly removed it after. Everything is working good, no issues with any of my tweaks or apps. And my windows machine seems fine also. Wonderful!

Hamburlgar posted:Strange, my battery was dumping like hell, plugged it in to charge and everything is sorted again. Must have just been playing up on its first cycle on 8.4. Same with my iPad. I had it turned off and charging all day and now the battery drain issue seems resolved. Also, for those already jailbroken, Saurik put TaiG's revised security exploit fix up. No real reason not to move onto 8.4 at this point, I daresay.

It is, but it's really trivial to install virtualbox and use that - the guide makes it look much more complex than it is. The only tripping point is to make sure you grab the extensions (as mentioned), and if you're getting virtualbox and the extensions now you don't even need to do the version matching like it says - just get the latest.

Any word on when f.lux will be updated to 8.4? I haven't jailbreaked since 7.x and was really looking forward to that but it isn't available yet Also, anyone know if I purchased TetherMe for iOS 4-7 if there is a way to upgrade to TetherMe for iOS 8 without having to pay again?

The have a repo you can add to Cydia. http://justgetflux.com/cydia/ . The TetherMe update is a paid upgrade. Outside of piracy or maybe contacting the developer and asking nicely, i don't think you have any options.

I did mine using VMWare Pro / Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit, didn't need to jump through any hoops or download anything but the TaiG app and the 64-bit iTunes for older graphics cards, YMMV.

Oh, VMWare pro is absolutely the better option - it's just not free like virtualbox.

I bought a 6 with iOS 8.3 today as my 4s was getting a bit pokey and I was never going to update it from 7.1.2. It seems that the apt.taig site is slammed — taking forever. Anyway when I ran the app, it errored out with result "-1102" after 40% completed. I ran it again it returned an "-1103". After the second failed attempt I went to the helpful website that reported that I had an incomplete download or I had passcode lock on (I didn't) and also I should put it in Airplane mode. Just did it a third time and failed with "-1102" again. Any ideas?

Ok, phew. That was kind of a pain. Not trying to scare you guys or anything. It'll probably be easy for you. My computer has just always had issues with itunes and restoring, updating, etc. I still can't even download the firmware through itunes. Anyways Backed up phone, restored, set up as new phone, jailbreak then restored from backup. Probably didn't need to set up as new phone at all but hey. After a couple attempts got it to finally restore. Not sure if not using an OEM cable was the reason because it took me 2 tries because it'd freeze at "waiting for iphone." So things I learned http://www.tenorshare.com/products/reiboot.html to kick it out of recovery Tried to restore my phone from 8.1 to 8.4 and it's stuck at "waiting for iphone" and has the connect to itunes screen Also on new itunes and used this The Dave posted:I installed this driver to get things working on my 64-bit machine: it crashed at seeking for me as well but alas still worked Only issue I've had with the restore is restoring all the 3rd party apps I backed up Nostalgia4Dogges fucked around with this message at 09:19 on Jul 4, 2015 |

Does anybody know by what method the break/crack is performed, is it computational in nature? Sorry, when I said in the Setting app, I wasn't referring to an iCould app. I meant the actual Settings button for the iPhone; where you can turn on/off Airplane Mode, Wifi, Bluetooth, etc. Scroll down the list and there's an iCloud button in there, and near the bottom of that list is a "Find my iPhone" toggle.

God knows it didn't work on a thoroughly hosed coreduo that was inexplicably running at ~1ghz. The only way I got the thing to work was: itunes 12.0.1 (64-bit), and restoring the phone from bare metal. In the initial setup I didn't enable a drat thing, and it worked just fine.

Now who's excited about the changes of 8.3 --> 8.4 and should I stay where I am? I've not used 8.x at all and am coming from 7.1.2. I don't think I'm going to be a part of Apple Music for the foreseeable future.

It was certainly a lot more involved than last time I jailbroke and the steps were "plug in phone, press button," that's for sure. As for your second question, since it's jailbreakable there's no reason not to move up to 8.4, in like a week maybe. Flipboard and activator were just updated yesterday and both of those now have 8.4 compatability, but there's probably a ton of other things that don't quite work right on 8.4 just yet, even if they're fine on 8.3. Off hand I don't remember what else underpins a lot of tweaks, since I don't have a huge list that I use.

Ever since I did this last update/jailbreak, I've been unable to download any app updates from the App Store. I click on the update button and it just circles around for a while doing nothing. I have to force close the App Store or it will continue to use data doing nothing. Anyone else having this issue / know how to fix it?

If I get my 5S factory unlocked, do I still have to restore it to actually activate the unlock? I remember using SAM with my 4S when I had an unlock and didn't want to lose my jailbreak. SAM doesn't seem to be working anymore, though.

The Dave posted:I just realized I never patched out the security but in my 8.4 jailbreak, is there a stupid easy way to do that? If it's the Taig 2.2 bug you should just be able to upgrade it in cydia. Called like untethered jailbreak or something... Should be in your list of available tweak updates.
