Neddy Seagoon posted:Try giving them celery or red bell peppers and they'll likely purr their little brains out. Just wait til they learn what the sound of a plastic bag rustling means and then get expectant loud wheeking every time you so much as open the fridge. Oh, they are already at that point. I keep their extra hay and treats under their enclosure in plastic bags. This morning I opened up a Cliff bar and the sound of the crinkling sent them into a tizzy. It's just a shame that the older one loathes to be touched

So they should be...what, horrified that a toothless waterfowl is going to beak their child? It's funny! My parents laughed when I was 4 and challenged by a territorial peacock due to my peacock-blue shirt. Then when they saw I was scared they rescued me. But not before then! My sister got bit by a swan when she was four years old and it was the most hilarious thing on earth. My mum turned her back for two seconds, my sister attempted to yank a feather from a swans' backside, and recieved a swift, merciless chomp on the arm from the swans' mate. Their beaks deliver quite a serious pinch, we've got a photo in one of the family albums of my sister looking massively naffed-off, with a purplish-red two-pronged bruise on her arm, and me pissing myself laughing in the background. I'll need to find it and scan it for blackmail purposes. Cute, slightly violent related content: have a marvellously decent British fellow rescuing a baby swan while it's ungrateful parent beats him up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxd53ykmTvc

I cut together a little vignette with the otter pup and it's mother from last week. The audio cleaned up better than I expected, so you can hear the little one squeaking for its mother https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlgsLMETv3I They were back in the marsh yesterday evening, and I caught the little one following its mother across a trail at dusk. It's barely as tall as the cut grass.
