Donald Trump's presidential campaign has brought someone out of retirement.

quote:

Someone commenting on the photo also asked if all of this has anything to do with Donald Trump’s presidential campaign (Trump played a role in the strip’s original ending), to which Breathed replied, “This creator can’t precisely deny that the chap you mention had nothing do with it.” So yeah, he’s making more Bloom County and it might be Trump-related.

Someone in the thread, during the middle of his speech in Phoenix, compared Donald Trump's rhetoric as something more akin to late 19th century populism than anything from the past century of the Republican platform.

Now, myself, fully aware that it's a hyperbolic comparison, can't help but see another antiquated ideology in that combover, general buffoonery, nativism, and focus on a cabal of ethnic enemies.

This really isn't getting enough attention, and it was the most interesting part of his ridiculous speech IMO. If any other GOP candidate says this, they're doomed. I'm still wrapping my head around it, but it's clear that Donald is playing by different rules.

Actually...

Basically, right wing populism isn't actually significantly in line with the current GOP on many issues. The GOP retains control of them mostly through manipulating their spite.

Considering that the candidates will be torpedoing the deal publicly to score points, making it impossible for the GOP senate to approve the deal, and will be almost directly responsible for the upcoming war, it seems pretty relevant here.

They've already started. Rubio, Cruz and Fiorina have all done interviews recently to say how quickly they would have walked away from negotiations, I guess because they think it makes them look like tough, savvy negotiators.

Of course Cruz is also still busy trying to create a grassroots movement against the NYT for pulling his book, but it doesn't seem like anybody's paying attention.

No deal plus a new president that's not Obama likely results in Israel forcing our hand. Not a sure thing but I'd put it in 'more likely than not' territory at this point.

I'm guessing all the republican candidates are in favor of a "harsher" stance on Iran. But who, if any is seriously advocating war against Iran?
And if Israel really forces your hand as Good Citizen put it, would the american public actually accept another war against a non aggressor because they might be hiding WMDs?

The only way Israel could even attempt to force the US's hand is by attacking themselves. Military leadership has consistently gone all the way to insubordination to make sure it does not happen, and even if they did, as Saakashvili learned, you cannot always depend on the US military to bail you out of the quagmire of your choosing, even with hawks holding the reins.

An entirely different question: does anyone know if any of Trump's books is actually good?

I think Hilary has said she's on board with a peace deal despite her strong love for Israel so as long as the GOP doesn't somehow win then it'd probably stay intact.

A GOP President would likely brag about how they ordered the thing shredded and then had the pieces attached to every missile and bomb used in the massive bombing campaign they just ordered against Iran. :(

Reasons Bush polls well:

1.) Money
2.) Seriously, so much money you have no idea
3.) Like OMG he has quite the war chest lemme tell ya
