The Kancolle game is an innocent piece of trash game, the sort they crank out by the dozen these days. It took off rather unexpectedly in popularity, resulting in an anime which didn't need to be made due to the game having nothing remotely resembling a plot.

The game itself doesn't really have anything more wrong with it than the average trashy anime thing, but it is kind of interesting how it sometimes seems to highlight and encourage remaining bits of nationalism in its Japanese fans.

A lot of the fanworks are just generic, but a fair chunk try and tie in historical facts and themes, and from there you start to get problems. It only focuses on the Pacific naval theater, meaning it doesn't deal at all with mainland atrocities, and instead mostly features Kancolle fans having their waifus brutally murdered by Americans in a selfless defensive battle to defend their home.

Not really. If you go through each day to unlock the reports, it will start to make more sense.

Basically what happened at the end there was
Joshua is the Composer and set up Neku to be his agent for the destruction of Shibuya, since he believed that everyone there had stagnated and it was time to move on. The Conductor doesn't want that, and bets that he can change the place using the Red Pins. The Conductor loses and is killed, and Joshua makes a new bet with Neku, making Hanekoma the price. Neku however, shows how much he's grown and changed over the past weeks when he's unable to shoot Joshua, and so Joshua wins the fight but loses the war, and decides not to erase Shibuya. Neku is returned to the world of the living, and his ending monologue to Joshua is about how he really doesn't understand him but is grateful to him and how he changed Neku. As for who Mr Hanekoma is and the nature of the Game, collect the reports yourself.

I think I watched the Utena movie when I was a member of my high school's anime club during my freshman year, but I don't remember anything about it.

Saw some anon on tumblr ask if nintendo was an "immediate kill" now that Iwata is dead. That happened on sunday and its still bugging me, mostly because it doesn't make sense. Do people think that nintendo will just poof out of existence without Iwata around? :psyduck:
