Don't you just hate when you wind up in a store with people who are in a socioeconomic class that is pretty obviously about two levels lower than your own?

• Amplification And Diminution Amplification/ Diminution is a hybrid of annotation and filtering. Technically, the Facebook “Like” button falls into this category. (Posts with more likes tend to appear in feeds more often.) Another example is how Reddit or Quora operate on an upvote/ downvote system. The UI decision to gray-out negative-rated Reddit answers is technically a form of diminution. Yahoo Answers allows the asker to select the “best” answer, which then floats up to the top. The SomethingAwful forums maintain a Goldmine (where good threads are archived for posterity) and a Gaschamber (where bad threads are consigned to a deserved afterlife).

I have been giving serious thought to selling drugs lately. I live in a large American city, and I have ties to a small town where my mother grew up. I'm not blowing smoke, but pretty much every male and a lot of females on my moms side of the family are criminals. They are like a little southern mafia crime family, and they run their side of the town. Is it worth it to buy from my connect, transport it to my hometown, and sell it wholesale to them and let them deal it on the street. It seems like a pretty sweet deal. I grew up with them, so I know most of them wouldn't try to rip me off, and I have an excuse to make frequent trips down their as both of my sick grandparents live their. Is it a good idea?

for a while around 2004-2005ish iirc (this isn't my first sa account), back when bittorrent and movie piracy were still relatively new and exciting and we still put "56k warning" in thread titles, sa had a torrents subforum called "the bittorrent barnyard". it was shut down after a while for numerous reasons including rampant goon idiocy, people signing up just for the torrents subforum, and mpaa/riaa attention

later there was an offsite goon torrent site called "wdma", which stood for "where da movies at", because when btb was around gbs was always full of newly-registered users asking where to find the torrents. it eventually imploded like all goon projects do

yes but mostly because it was a tool to ban idiot newcomers who came in asking about them, i.e. the people they were primarily removed to keep out in the first place (if it was really about illegality, TCC would be outta here as well)
