CapitalistPig posted:Yeah for some reason the scene where Anya freaks out kills me every time. There are a few things that will make me cry in less than 5 minutes no matter what mood I'm in beforehand. The beginning of Up and Grave of the Fireflies, along with the ending of an anime called Chrono Crusade are some off the top of my head. I'm sure there are others, but those are sure things.

I don't watch enough movies. My favorite is Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and I'm so glad so many people in this thread love it as much as I do. Tbh I can't remember the last movie I watched, let alone the last movie to make me cry.

I like movies, I don't care if they're not well-liked by others, mine is the only opinion that counts to me. If I had to pick out 5 from the top of my head: About Schmidt (last one to make me cry) Bullitt Django Unchained Forrest Gump Flight of the Phoenix (original)

CapitalistPig posted:Shopping List: Hmm, I might have to do that but without the asparagus. I'm an old bachelor and I'm lazy, so I cook food in large batches and then eat it over the course of a week. My favorite "bachelor chow' is to get 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef, 1/2 pound of chorizo, onion and garlic. I start with a little oil in my cast iron pan, then toss in an entire chopped onion and a bunch of chopped garlic. Toss salt and pepper on the onions/garlic as they sweat a bit and then add the chorizo. Cook the chorizo for a bit (like halfway) and then drain the excess grease. Put the pan (with the chorizo/onions) back on the heat and add the ground beef and any spices you might like (I use a mix of salt/pepper/cumin/chili powder/crushed red pepper/oregano) mix it all up thoroughly as it cooks for a few minutes on high heat and then cover the pan and reduce the heat to a low/medium setting. Let all that wonderful meat simmer and cook for like 20-30 minutes while stirring occasionally. Taste the meat while it's cooking and add more spices if needed. You can also add stuff like green/red peppers if you'd like at pretty much any point (adding them earlier will make them softer). When the meat is done cooking, drain it well and then throw it in one of those glad/ziploc reusable containers. Obviously you eat them by heating the tortilla of your choice, adding a couple ounces of meat and then and stuffing them into your face hole. To reheat the meat just add some to a small pan with like a bottlecap of water. Cover the pan and turn the heat to medium/high. Let it warm up for a few minutes and once again add it to a heated tortilla and stuff it in your face hole.

I really can't do "absolute all-time OBJECTIVE BEST" about films because what people react to and how they react are so completely subjective. There are relative levels of objective quality, sure, and that's definitely worth talking about. But I've also met people who think B.A.P.S. is a funny movie. I will never understand these people. What really galls me is when people talk about how the only measure of a film is how much it ~*~moves you~*~ because in that case, the greatest cinematic achievement of all time is The Seventh Continent, because I've never encountered any one who's seen it and not been kinda hosed up by it. That isn't to say it's enjoyable at all.
