Speaking of microwaves, I love to cook so my husband's grandmother asked me if I'd like some old cook books she's interested in getting rid of. I said sure because, hey, recipe books. This is the first thing I pulled out of the bag: Okay, this won't be so bad, microwave can be great for some veggies and stuff and prepping ingredients, right? But... here, in the beginning of the book, they instruct you on the best way to destroy whatever piece of meat you're eating.

I was going to ask: What year is that book from? That stuff always just makes me think of the boundless optimism of the late fifties/early sixties where people were so excited about new technology that they would use it in the most inappropriate scenarios, just for the novelty of it. Then I googled it. 1976. :p

A little part of everybody worked in a factory in the Midlands making Robin Reliants as badly as possible, then buying them and complaining about the build quality.

This hummus loving sucks, it's watery and bland and I don't like it. Let's try it like this! Tabasco and majo, fuckers. I will tell you how it tasted afterwards. EDIT: The tabasco really improved the Hummus. I didn't taste the majo much. Maybe too much hummus but I want to get rid of it. Simply Simon has a new favorite as of 19:14 on Jul 21, 2015 |

Can someone explain to me what the difference between marmite and vegemite is? Publix (SE United States chain grocery store) by me sells marmite, but not vegemite, and it seems, by this thread, that vegemite is the spread of choice for toast, and I'm incredible curious to try it. Are the two interchangeable? if not, where would someone in Florida get vegemite without relying on the internet?

EZipperelli posted:Can someone explain to me what the difference between marmite and vegemite is? To me, Marmite tastes a little bit more sour than Vegemite, but they're pretty similar. Which one you prefer will be a matter of personal taste. I'd quite happily eat either, but having grown up eating Vegemite I'd generally choose it over Marmite. Either way, the important thing is to start with small amounts and not slather it on like peanut butter or something. A thin scrape of Vegemite/Marmite on buttered toast is the best way to try it.
