One of the few? You mean literally all of them? That's Two Face's thing outside of when they just have him show up to be a random baddie in like a villain team up or something. Any Two Face centric stories focus on how tragic it is that the world lost the heroic Harvey Dent to the monstrous Two-Face. It's in The Dark Knight Returns, it's in The Dark Knight (movie), it's in this very game Arkham Origins. He's up there with Freeze for that.

Not sure I agree. In the animated series, he had a very strong origin story and one good episode where Batman switched his coin with a trick coin that always landed on edge so he'd have to make a decision on his own. The latter showed hope that he could be redeemed, but they never followed up, and every other time he's seen he's just a standard crime boss with a coin fetish.

Also I'd really recommend Batman Confidential #49, except it's pretty annoying to find. It's a single issue story about what goes through Batman's head while he's investigating a relatively ordinary crime. This issue should be required reading for anyone wanting their Bat-detective fix.

It's worth pointing out that part of the problem results from the fact that it took Rocksteady WAAAAYYYYY longer to get the game finished and done than it should have, they apparently wrestled with the game a LOT to get it to run. They're still a great studio, but that doesn't mean they made 0 missteps.

Yeah supposedly they had a lot of trouble with the PS4 as the lead platform. Can any of the ubisoft woes be traced back to that as well? I'd like to blame Sony, at least a little.

No, the story is not that they had trouble with the PS4 but that they had trouble with the actual development of an open world game of that size. Apparently all versions of the game were running poorly for a long time which is why they rarely showed off the open world gameplay. It has nothing to do with Sony (or Microsoft!) That's some bizarre console warrior bullshit right there.

Unity's problem is straight-up that they rushed it out in a blatantly unfinished state. It is again not any console/PC's fault, it is a bad publisher.

Engine wise, Unity had intense requirements, though that was at least understandable given the crowds in the game. There was a day 0 patch that fixed a lot if glitches (though a lot of people didn't apply it before getting the pics of the game glitch in like crazy)

It was seemingly plagued by some really bad net code that would induce occasional stuttering. It seemed to be tied into the data reporting back to the Initiates website. Running the game in offline mode greatly enhanced the performance, and they eventually patched the aspect out

The other thing that pissed people off was the unlockable stuff that was tied in with the Companion App and Initiates, since there was trouble synchronizing with the game together, and eventually that was bad basically nixed and unlocked in game.

Aside from that people had some issues with the combat system changes and stealth system changes, and sheer # of treasure chests.

So seriously, does the batmobile just always handle like a weeble and I just have to get used to it? The chases involving the APCs are frustrating when you have to have the front of the car perfectly in line for a good amount of time. I also just don't get the collisions. Some poo poo I can just ram right through - cars, poo poo on the sidewalk, even pillars sometimes don't stop you at all. Then you hit a railing or something and you stop dead. The Animated Series two-face did the character very well, but the animated series did a lot of characters well. I of course am talking about the original one that ended in 95, as I never bothered with any of the spinoffs.

You'll learn through enough trial and error what kind of environments the Batmobile will be able to plow through. Side-of road/bridge larger railings are generally no-gos. Cars, signs, trees, and pillars of I think every thickness can all be rammed through. Take some time to find a quiet area and start blasting things with your cannon. You'll see quickly what kind of objects disintegrate.

Definitely get friendly with the power slide button, it's your cornering buddy.

Yeah, switching to tank for a hot second to swing far enough around (and to come to a quick stop) is also a good tip.

Be sure to upgrade your Batmobile stuff as soon as you can, btw. You're gonna need it, and you'll use it all much much much more often than combat upgrades, for example.

Sliding/smash-dodging into the APC escorts is a good way to get rid of them quicker, too.

Don't be afraid to go down other alleys/roads if you're sure you're not going to make a hard turn.

You'll come to look fondly on the APC chases as they're a whole bunch more fun than the whack-a-tank fights that the game will never stop throwing your way. Seriously, I could go for a whole extra batch of chases over the tedium of slide-shoot-slide-shoot-slide-shoot-slide-shoot-slide-shoot-slide-shoot-slide-shoot-. thanks y'all. I may be less frustrated if the APCs couldn't take 90 degree turns on a dime and you have to obey physics. I realize that's video game chases in a nutshell usually...

Chasing Firefly was a whole lot easier than the APCs for me, probably because you don't have to be aimed super specifically.

Honestly, skip it. The boss fight is nothing more than a fight where you beat up on robots with catwoman and then maybe he might shoot a laser at you, but that is it. I would just youtube it and the conversation he has with Catwoman because that was the best part about that whole thing aside from punching the Riddler in his stupid face.

Although, I do like how smug he is even when you capture him. "I would have gotten here in half the time!" when you take him back to GCPD.

Yeah I was already thinking of just looking up the "full" story-ending as it is.

Arkham City when you found him you had to do this stupid maze where rigged up a bunch of GCPD officers to bombs and they had to keep walking or they'd explode. So you have to transverse this maze with GCPD guys walking trying to blow you up. When you get to Riddler, you just do one of those through the ground takedowns. Then you rig him up in one of those things and leave him with the GCPD he tied up.

It's the reasonable reaction after having done 400 riddler trophies. Fun fact too - you didn't need all 440 in AC, the Catwoman ones counted towards the 400.

I realize it's the thing for these games now, but it would be doable and reasonable if it were just 100 trophies. Even if they were all tricky, the devs need to stop with this poo poo.

That's funny - I had the opposite problem. Firefly gave me much more trouble because he would change levels a lot on that one island, could turn on a dime, is a lot smaller, and has an indicator which is easier to lose track of. In comparison I found the APCs a lot easier and took most of them out fairly quickly.

Also re: Riddler Trophies: I really wish the ones that require you to trip a switch elsewhere and race to them would point you back to the switch if you failed. I don't have the greatest sense of direction in fictional video game cities, so if I can't always successfully backtrack the windy route I just drove.

Yeah for me Firefly I just go full bore and once I get close it's just the ejection grab.

APCs are maddening because of the firing. I keep getting *almost* locked then I hit a quarter in the road and lose the circle.

I never can get close enough to them to side-swipe them.

Something tells me I'm going to get mad at this game later on, but I'm too busy rescuing firemen and doing sidequest poo poo rather than rescue Barbara Gordon

Don't try to sideswipe the apcs, just the escorts if they're crowding you. If you can ram the APC by coming in opposite direction though, go for it.

And again, powerslide, powerslide, powerslide.

One thing I found that makes APCs easier: glide to their position, and then divebomb and call in the batmobile right next to them - preferably in such a way that they have to turn around. You can get a couple of sideswipes in that way right off the bat before they get up to speed.

Also on big curves, the APC usually takes the turn pretty wide, so with a little practice you can cut the corner and ram it good.

I've upset some of my friends who are huge Arkham game fans because I had started to play this, but then went right back to Witcher 3. I played that to as close to 100% as you can get without doing that game's equivalent of Riddler trophies. Game seriously reset the bar for open world games for me. So when I got back into Arkham a few days ago, they were upset when I was complaining about how clunky the combat felt. It's probably 90% just being used to W3, but yikes.

I love the Batman games, but I'm definitely not 100%-ing this.

EDIT:
VVV It's not the getting shot that makes me lose lock, the Batmobile just decides to just lose control and I lose lock. I can be on the empty street and I guess I'm just missing something obvious.

A trick to dodging shots on a straight section is you can sideswipe out of the way, just press space + direction (or whatever batmobile dodge is for you console people) when the indicators are on you and generally that'll be enough to get you out of harm's way and not lose too much lock on.

They really don't though? I just did those quests for like the 4th time and was having fun glide kicking isolated mooks. Certainly you can do knockout smashes to your heart's content, although it won't recharge your fear takedown. I usually would set up one fear, knock out a few guys until one was isolated enough to recharge fear, and then end on a fear and grapple up before the alarm shuts off.
