I'm voting for Mister as well! While you might not have gotten that Sectoid, you had some good rolls with the two captures you did get Prof. There's something nice about the increased squad size in Long War, even if it does make missions take even longer. It's nice to be able to bring more niche roles, and do things like have dedicated scouts or capturers. In the base game, and the bits of EW I have played (which I should finish) I always feel like I need to make my squad more generalised and able to handle any situation. Although I might just not be playing well, which is entirely possible given my experience is largely finishing the base game once on Normal, playing through half of it on Classic and playing the bits of EW on Classic. Plus I save scum like all heck. I don't know how you roll with the punches and keep coming out so well, save for the few disasters you've had.

Youtube Link Our first Swarming abduction. Stuff Not much to mention here, but what's notable is that doing the Alien Grenades foundry project not only gives you access to Alien Grenades for your soldiers, but it also adds +2 damage to AP grenades - slightly more damage than alien grenades - and increases the AOE of HE grenades, so cover destruction for HE grenades is better than alien grenades. Alien Grenades split the difference between damage and AOE. In general, I don't need HE grenades to have better cover destruction, but AP grenades will still be useful on terror missions.

Well so much for the aliens upping the ante. I guess they just feel that the invasion is too much by now.

What's up with the Rocketeer skill tree? Suppression appears in both specialist and sergeant so when you bought it for the latest promotion it's made Kurieg look like he's got 5 skills trained (pause at 0:47).

That mission was great, I was chuckling a bit when you first made me pull out a pistol to shoot someone then got a bit concerned you were becoming a bit forgetful when you didn't have me put it away. Then I realized it was pretty much planned for unless something got in shotgun range, and I loving lost it when I got my third pistol kill. I look forward to seeing even more shenanigans happen with my new found pistol-hero powers. Mechanics talk, does gunslinger essentially turn sidearms into mini assault rifles for the purposes of aim? Does it nullify the range penalty for sawed off shotguns?

Yes - the exception is machine pistols, which carry a -8% aim malus when drawn. Sawed off shotguns still keep the 1 tile range limitation.

BTW, in the newest version of Long War, do MECs and Gene soldiers need as much time to recover from missions? Edit: Also, can I have my character in colour scheme 31? Samovar fucked around with this message at 19:03 on Jul 21, 2015 |

I'm not sure, honestly, Samovar. I make MECs, genemods, and psionics based on need, not based on how much extra fatigue. Normally I make such a deep roster its not even a big deal.

That mission went super well, and holy crap that ammo conservation is super expensive.. Realistically how long until you are able to get that? Or are there higher priority things to be getting on with?

Riobs posted:That mission went super well, and holy crap that ammo conservation is super expensive.. Realistically how long until you are able to get that? Or are there higher priority things to be getting on with? Some people really prioritize ammo conservation - its great to have, but it requires 60 engineers. Its going to be something we just have to play by ear. I'm not making any specific plans for it, but in an ideal scenario we'll be considering ammo conservation after a speedy efficient conquest of Asia. e: My playstyle doesn't hinge on that project, so its a pretty low priority.

Plinking is usually casual shooting, typically with .22 rimfire, and most commonly at improvised targets like cans, which tend to make a "plink" sound when hit.

Commander, I think our boys in the air must get really nervous when they hear you are counting on them so they tend to target fixate on incoming plasma. Either that or, as you have suspected, most of us just really like going to Europe. I'm sure we'll live up to your expectations one of these days.

Ok, so I've lived in North Dakota the vast majority of my life. What the gently caress is "snootin"? I think you're confusing North Dakotans with those sheep fuckers down in South Dakota. Plinking, sure, that makes sense. But snootin? And that was a hell of a mission, good to see its going ok for now.

I asked Kidneyman about Snootin' this morning. It's a term his parents use and they're about as straight-laced white-bread midwestern as you can get, so I'm pretty sure its not drug related. He'll be along later to give a definition. In the meantime I think we have a good nickname for Seaborgium when they eventually become Corporal
