Samsung's TVs were laughably bad until maybe 5 years ago when other brands were pushing out some really nice stuff. I will say one thing about them though, at one point I was working retail and had one fall off a 6ft high shelf, land on my back and hit the floor. When we switched it on it still worked perfectly. So there's at least one arm of the company doing things somewhat right.

I haven't bought anything other than Samsungs TVs ever since I switched away from my Sony Wega CRT that weighed 190 lbs. I haven't had a problem with anything until my most recent purchase, a UN40JU6500FXZA for the bedroom. gently caress, do the apps suck; my older UN55C8000 is way better. I don't know if youtube is the worst offender, or their "stream from your computer" app, but they just. Don't. WORK.

My 2007 Samsung TV has been fine.. mostly. That particular year they sent out a batch of screens with lovely capacitors, there was a class action about it and they eventually agreed to repair televisions for free. Except the capacitors in mine magically survived until 2014, which was two years after the settlement terms expired. Fortunately I know how to use soldering iron and instructions are all over the internet. But other than that, TV's been great!

I worked for a service agent and repaired them for 10 years. Some were poo poo and remained poo poo. Others got the bugs worked out eventually and that was my point. I'd recommend new LG or westinghouse/electrolux to others instead, but because I know the older samsung S+S so well, I would take one on the cheap s/h quite happily. Biggest problem with Samsung TVs is the whole panel lottery thing. The same model will have good Samsung panels and garbage Chinese specials and everything in between. If you are going to buy one then get it from a store so you can decode the number on the label and verify it has a Samsung panel.

Yeah, my Samsung LED TV is absolutely amazing, got it for a PC monitor/game TV and it works amazingly and has the best image of any TV in my house. It's got like 3 dead pixels, but that's about it. It's a dumb TV, because I have apps on all of my other devices, and just want my TV to... well, TV. My Samsung fridge just died, though, that sucks. e. I bought the TV like 3 years ago so maybe that's something too, I dunno

Since we're on the subject of non-car-makers making cars: It even straight up used the same engine Yamaha was making for F1 at the time, detuned enough for the street:  (along with an actual carbon fiber F1 chassis that just had enough bodywork added to make it street legal) The terrible part about it is that it never went into production.

I saw some terrible car stuff yesterday. No pictures, they wouldn't have conveyed the situation anyway. I'm driving home on a smallish highway with a speed limit of 60. Nothing crazy. I catch a glimpse of a Gallardo Spyder up ahead. Gorgeous metallic orange paint. Top down, OK, maybe this is someone who actually appreciates the car (I see frustratingly few ragtops with the top down around here, even on perfect days). Then I realize that we're all catching up to him - fast. None of us are speeding, we are all traveling just about 60 MPH and we are just breezin' on by. The driver doesn't look that old until I come up alongside him and I see this is clearly an older man, just with dyed hair, probably a fair amount of plastic surgery. Just a-starin' straight ahead, supercar idling down the highway at 45-50 MPH. That poor engine must be choked with carbon
