Well I'm glad someone is taking the International Gaylord Guinness Cup Presented by Qatar Airways and the Tanzanian Tourism Board seriously, frankly City's approach was a bit disrespectful.

There's no way that's from just a break/surgery right?. Had to be an infection in the hospital or something like that. When I was in school our wrestling coach used to tell us horror stories and show us pictures of MRSA, scared us to death and we cleaned every single piece of gear religiously. One of my biggest fears to this days is going to the hospital for something minor like gallbladder surgery or something and losing a limb to MRSA.

Interestingly it looks like you're right, whilst the injury itself was horrific and Busst had 26 operations, he did actually contract MRSA at one point.

Was the injury recoverable before the infection? I'm amazed they didn't just amputate, 26 operations Christ...

Yeah reading more, apparently the break was bad enough to end his career. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/2353993/Busst-counts-his-blessings-and-looks-ahead.html quote:Basically, the muscle in my leg sort of exploded and they had to cut part of it away in what was operation No 15. That's what stopped me playing again. The break healed beautifully, but by the time they had finished cutting, there wasn't enough muscle left to work the tendons. The only thing that had kept me going through the previous 14 ops was the knowledge that every theatre visit was one step closer to returning to football. Suddenly, at 29, they told me I was finished. Yeah, I was stunned, but what can you do? 29 operations and a bout of MRSA on top for good measure, God drat what terrible luck.

It's one of the worst ever, Schmeichel threw up at the side of the pitch and it took ten minutes to clean the blood up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byOKCMQpxKo
