I love Randy Grubb's work, but what bothers me is how does he afford it? Like the Decoliner is (just spitballing here) probably a $150,000+ plus project, and the 5000 man hours invested in a year say the dude doesn't have another job (that's ~14 hours a day *365), so where is the time and money coming from?

Selling the things he makes? He made Jay Leno's Tank car. I assume Jay paid him.

Thank god i don't have to commute through that bullshit with all the idiots like that Jeep driver roaming around.

If you can pay attention to the road it's not a problem, but as you can see in that google maps pic, it's just the beginning of a shitload of construction, and if you're even thinking of picking up your phone or doing anything else to distract you in that area you're a loving idiot.

His stuff is considered art among high end collectors, and $150,000 doesn't even come close to what he sells them for. Plus IIRC he made a ton of money being an artisanal glass blower before he started doing this. That's not paint, that's glass inside glass. So......yeah. Yea, he spent 20 some years doing the glass work and gaining a reputation as an artist. I imagine based on those photo's that he made some very good money from that, those pictures are incredible.

Based on the price of some (pretty crappy looking) sculptures and paintings I've seen in 'galleries' in places like Scottsdale and Park City, I'd be shocked if those weren't well into the 5 digit prices or higher, especially if they are later works after he had a known name in the market.
