A nice thing is that the person who shows with the dragon and the person who shows up on the beach don't have to be the same. I once got the princess for the dragon, gave a bunch of wine to a random woman I liked, and she became my beloved after the post game.

I think that the person who shows up in the cutscenes is whichever person with the pink glow you talked to last. That's always worked for me anyway.

It actually does make a difference, giving it to someone instantly gives you maximum friendship with them. The problem is that there's other characters who have quests you can finish right before the dragon takes your "beloved," and finishing one of those quests after you gave the ring to someone will give you a bunch of friendship with them and possibly overwrite your choice. So you have to finish all the quests you want to do before going to fight the dragon, then give the ring to someone as the last thing you do before they get taken. When I tried to get reynard it was a pain for that reason since he also leaves after you finish his quest, which means you have to time it just right or else you'll accidentally end up with the jester or whatever.

i have a warrior character and i somehow lucked my way through the twin liches fight with no ranged weapons and a lot of tornado riding. i imagine the dragon i have to go kill also flies around and will piss me off, what's my best option for ranged support for a warrior? i don't think i can wield a bow.

Besides the Lash skills and jumping heavy attacks (which have surprisingly good range), I'd just bring a couple of Sorcs with you. They will vastly outrange you and when Grigs flies high he really does fly, like cloud level. Maybe throw on War Cry or bring a Fighter with Shield Summons if you're feeling spicy, but for the most part you're going to playing the waiting-fireball-dodging game. EDIT: almost forgot that there are a handful of ballistas scattered around the final arena. I never had too much luck with them, but it's an option and one or two solid hits should bring him down.

I don't know about DDO, but in Dragma / DA you were probably better off changing vocations and getting some levels in a ranged class yourself. It might be different for DDO but the perks you unlock by playing different classes were not restricted to that class so it's good to level all of the things.

i beat the dragon thanks for the balista tip so how many hours are the post game quests in the original version? is it like another quarter of the game or is it just some busy work before the real final boss?

There's not much in the way of quests, I think they began to ran out of time when they were doing the postgame stuff. There's a lot of changes to enemy spawns and a big new area full of grueling fights though. If you just want to rush to the end you'll probably be done in a couple hours.

 Spent five hours figuring out the squiggly lines and how to navigate the ui. The google translate app was essential, photographing my screen with my phone and getting some fractured Engrish results. Good enough to get the gist of quest descriptions and stuff. Also it appears that you need a pawn before you can play coop with others. So far the game feels like Dragon's Dogma with multiplayer and some combat tweaks. Which is exactly what I wanted. Doesn't beat a proper non-f2p sequel but at least it is Dragon's Dogma on PC with glorious 1080p@60. Boar It fucked around with this message at 21:17 on Aug 7, 2015 |

I guess some person on reddit uncompressed the games .arc files during the beta and managed to make a patch that translated a few bits of UI and plans to continue doing so when the main game comes out. They seem to be doing it just using google translate and cleaning it up using context and knowledge of how things were localized in dark arisen so they probably wont be able to do any of the story bits. Did anyone see if the beta let you keep playing the game if you turn off your VPN after logging in on the launcher? I forgot to try.

I'm guessing it's because the hunter does decent damage and isn't directly in the line of fire of monsters who I'd imagine can take people down in less than 5-10 hits. DDO sounds really lacking by not having the ability to use a bow and daggers at the same time, among other things. That allowed effective fighting and for you to take on big dudes or anyone getting too close, now everyone has to be a specialist it seems. I restarted this game after probably at least a year very recently and I'm kind of surprised to see the DD thread alive. I mainly wanted to express that. It's been so long that the first time in my new file I rested at an inn, I got a pile of items and like 67,000 RC. I'm a Mystic Knight now. I was a Magic Archer before and so far I'm finding my new character more fun to play.
