Yeah but caleb is a weird special case, he has rich alcoholic admirers or something. It's not sustainable but he's pulling in silly money. He got 6 thousand dollars the other night because he decided to do an impromptu 12 hour stream for random donations

sadly one of the runners blew it :(
Yeah, that was pretty cool: they spent half the race in completely different areas and then were suddenly almost frame-for-frame.

Why not? Half of the point of these is that they show off neat tricks. Very rarely will someone actually get a PB just because they only get one shot at the game. I'd enjoy seeing multiple routes played at the same time as long as the commentary can handle explaining what the hell is going on.

Fair point; a showcase of things you wouldn't see in one route is a point I hadn't really considered. I guess I feel that doesn't really work for an unpopular game though. Races for games most people don't know thrive on the tension of knowing who's in front and by what, hopefully tiny, margin. With different routes you never really know who's ahead, so in games I don't really care too much about otherwise, I just loose interest.

I guess I feel a showcase 'race' could work in a popular game that was well known? Like; 'here was last years GDQ run of 'OoT", and you thought that was neat; look out our new route racing against it!'

Races with diverging routes are actually really cool but only when it's a good game that everyone has played to death so they understand how they are divergent rather than a garbage game that probably most of the viewers haven't seen more than once or twice and have no idea what's going on anyway.

Oh, the network slogan is true -- "watch FOX and be damned for all eternity!"

Eh, aesthetics differences aside, you'd think they'd have figured out by then that not having lag / FPS-dependent behavior is way more important than looking pretty. Most of the Playstation-era Megaman games have janky controls :\

In my mind I just pretend. My brain is my only true friend.
For a route that they're saying is fairly untested, (unless I heard that wrong) those were pretty close together end times.

No they don't, they control like the SNES ones.

That was a good race, I liked how the middle guy was more X-centric than the other 2 especially showing off the boss kill at the end with X instead of Zero, the other 2 guys where crazy close despite the divergence in routes.
