Spanish black olives are pretty boring and not good for anything, it's better to get them green. However black kalamatas are awesome.

Greek Kalamata olives are flavorful and delicious. Cheap black Spanish olives are just really bad green olives dyed black and taste like meh.

I'm sure they could have stopped where they wanted, and they wanted that much. My lunch today was cheese, pickle (almost as much as that), and a sliced habanero.

The best burger pickles are terrible, neon, dill chips. Pickles are beautiful things and pickling itself can do so much for food, but a burger wants trashy salt discs. Likewise, black olives and pizza, nachos.

I've seen canned olives before. Maybe not at colesworths as they have replaced cheap products with their home brands that come in jars, but any supermarket that imports cheap foreign labels will probably have a tin of olives from Spain or somewhere. E: I've even seen pre-sliced black olives in cans - which is probably what the pizza shops buy. http://www.frutex.com.au/Products/Detail/OLIV090 Fo3 has a new favorite as of 15:06 on Jul 29, 2015 |

Tiggum posted:Canned olives? Guys, Tiggum is confused again that food is different in other places. Did you know you can get milk in bags in Canada?!?!?!!! Olives of all sorts are amazing. Canned black, green, kalamata, whatever, I'll eat them all. I don't have any pictures handy but a lot of homemade Indian food is anti-food porn yet tastes delicious. Dal palak, for example, looks sorta like a vegan's puke, but it's crazy delicious spinach and lentils. Restaurants are a little more cautious about looks because white people eat there, so the worst you'll see is something like saag paneer. The only thing I can't really get behind is my mother-in-law's ground chicken kebabs, because ground chicken seems like a salmonella nightmare and while I'm sure she gets them cooked enough, the insides are so soft it doesn't feel cooked.

Canned olives are the only way locally to get anchovie stuffed olives which are required in martinis. I tend to remove them from the can and put them in the jar as soon as the can is open though.

RIP MCLOBSTER Well, as promised, here's my adventure with a convenience store taco, from Angelina's Tacos Caseros in a 7-11 somewhere in east Texas. I'm told that "tacos caseros" means either "homes for tacos" or "taco casseroles." She was really nice. I asked where Angelina was but I don't think she heard me because she didn't say anything (her face has been taco-fied to protect her secret identity ok) Rather than barf in the parking lot, I decided to take it home. "chech" does not mean "The Cheech Marin Special," unless his special is a breakfast taco with cheese and chorizo. Then, it does. Observant goons might have already noticed the can of Lone Star Beer next to the breakfast taco. It's the national beer of Texas. It's also 9:00 A.M. on a Wednesday, but I doubt anyone's going to fault me for having a drink to help me down a convenience store taco. It smells like a 7-11. Auto-focus is great when you want a really clear photo of the foil behind your subject. And there she was. The chorizo was bland and ever-so-slightly spicy, the eggs and salsa were OK I guess, and the whole thing wasn't as greasy as I'd expected. It wasn't awful for a $1.79 gas station taco, though I have a feeling I'll change my mind about that in an hour or so. I give it two and a half angry tacos out of five. Yeah, a bog standard gas station taco is hardly anti-food porn. I'd grab one or two while filling up, especially for a taco that big and that cheap. It's not something out of this world disgusting like semi-rancid lobster meat from subway or anything.
