K. Rool is a cool and fun boss from cool and fun games. Also DK64 which was kinda alright.

What's wrong with Krystal and Shovel Knight? Krystal would be the first space animal to have a completely distinct fighting style from the others (not saying Fox/Falco/Wolf are clones; they just all have the same overall feel to them), and we don't currently have a staff/spear fighter, so she'd be unique in that way as well. Shovel Knight would bring some indie-representation to Smash, and he has a moveset basically complete from his own game that can be brought in. I don't think he's likely to be added; as good and popular as Shovel Knight is, he's still just a niche indie game protagonist, but he's not necessarily bad

Krystal is furry garbage who doesn't even deserve a trophy. The most important reps should be Bomberman and Belmont IMO.

Shovel Knight would be a bad pick because he's too new and small; there's still much bigger third-party fish to fry. Krystal is bad because she's a blue bikini fox.

Krystal is another Space Animal and we don't need another one of those. Wolf can stay in the dumpster too unless he replaces Falco on the roster somehow. Also, Krystal's from Star Fox Adventures. Adding her would be like adding Adam Malkovich as a new Metroid rep.  Shovel Knight, however, is awesome and from a great game. There are third parties I'd expect over him (considering he's more contemporary than legacy), but I would buy his DLC day one.

Krystal's introductory game is the most unpopular in the series and her later appearances are post the series's descent into mediocrity. It's like if you put in Silver the Hedgehog before Eggman. edit: someone already beat me with a better analogy.

I have a great deal of nostalgia for Golden Sun, bad game be damned There is a similar amount of nostalgia for Star Fox Assault on its merits as a decent game but I agree that Krystal does not belong in Smash Bros, and is not my friend

Plus, if we ruled out hasbeens from series that everyone realizes they only fooled themselves into liking, we'd have to get rid of Sonic too. At this point I'm more excited for Youtube uploads and tournament mode. Tournament Mode mostly as a means to an end so I can play matches against randoms on actual non-Omega stages.
