Yeah those Jeep transfer cases can sometimes get in a spot where you can't pull it into 4 wheel drive. The solution is to move forward or backward ever so slightly to line up the gears and try again.
Mmm, most part-time stuff can be like that.

Would have been entertaining if Jeremy had encountered oen of the tricks my old Frontera managed a couple of times, where one of the auto-freewheeling front hubs didn't disengage properly, and you get this whubba-whubba-whubba through the drivetrain until they actually get with the programme and you get a nice loud thump at about 30.

Well that ends an era. I liked the small touches to the segments, like the Fiat badge changed to "FAT", the cars being in barns, the hacksaw job on the Frontera and the graphics on May's Pajero

Yeah, I'd say still worth it. I'm pretty sure they showed it in 4WD later on (at least the "PART TIME" light was on :haw: ) so I don't doubt part of that was Hammond intentionally making it look like it was much harder to shift the transfer case than it really was.

Did you notice it said "PARTY TIME"?

Just watching some episodes on Netflix, i really hope that either on the new Top Gear or whatever the boys do, they continue making segments featuring touring car racers racing random types of vehicles

As an added bonus their videos are entertaining too.

This is a cool and interesting project and you're a bastard for not warning us that it's nowhere near complete. There are 9 episodes and it took two years for those to appear.

The lack of episode 10 until sometime in july saddened me too much to mention it.

I started watching the final season on amazon and the Patagonia special was pretty great.

It's your own bloody fault.

quote:

In an interview with the BBC’s Top Gear magazine, Evans revealed the furore over Clarkson’s removal from the show in March, after a “fracas” with a producer, had almost put him off the job.

“I honestly didn’t think I’d get the phone call – I was amazed that I did, to be honest,” he said. “I ruled myself out because I didn’t want to be part of all the nonsense that was going on. But then the situation changed, and I wasn’t stepping on anybody’s graves or toes. “I was actually in the middle of preparing for TFI Friday and I talked to Will [Macdonald from the Channel 4 show] and he said, ‘Why would you not do this?’ And that’s the question. It wasn’t ‘Why would you do it?’ but ‘Why wouldn’t you?’ If I make television programmes for a living and love motor cars and love the biggest challenge in the world, why wouldn’t I do it?”

He added: “There have been 34 presenters before me, so it’s a bit like Doctor Who.”

“There’s a lot of talk about talent at the moment,” Evans told the magazine. “Honestly, it’s not the furthest thing away from my mind, but it is quite distant compared to directors, producers.”
He continued: “I have got to get that team, because, without the team, it doesn’t matter what presenters we get. It’s nearly in place. We’re so very close.”

Evans said he would not cut popular segments from the show, famous for regular items like star in a reasonably priced car: “Nothing has to [change], but some things will. I can’t tell you what precisely. But it would be silly to throw the baby out with the bathwater. This is, without doubt, the most challenging thing I have ever done in my career,” Evans said, comparing it to the BBC Radio 2 show he took over from Terry Wogan.

“People kept saying [after Wogan] I had ‘big shoes to fill’, and they’re saying it again now. I don’t mean they’re wrong or they’re right, it’s just such a predictable thing to say – and, by the way, Jeremy is very tall, so they’re even bigger shoes,” said Evans.

I've always thought that about top gear. Treat it like doctor who. You cant say the original format was fresh. If he takes the show for 2 years and moves on i would be thrilled. I've been in a "let the place burn down" mood about the Beeb ever since the first rumblings of a female doctor a few years back. Might as well try something risky, i'll be watching netflix instead ;)

All I'm saying is I'm really loving glad the US has James Corden over there otherwise I fear that fat prick would've been in with a chance of presenting. It could be worse, much worse. But yeah, Evans isn't the best choice in all honesty.

A bit sad it isn't with Netflix, but I guess Amazon have more to gain. Prime will still be a hard sell in some countries, you won't get all the benefits as the USA prime.

Yep, I wonder if they'll do TV deals for worldwide distribution, otherwise it'll be a very pirated show, which the BBC didn't mind too much because of how they got their income.

There's No Limit To What We Can't Accomplish

I know that (in the US) you can buy individual episodes or season passes for Amazon original content without a prime subscription so you could probably just change your address to a US or other country with service the same way people get around book release dates on Kindle.

In the WSJ article they said that they will be making local TV deals for countries without Prime Video access.

I wonder how much Amazon spent on this, you have to imagine it is a astronomical amount of money since iTV, Sky and Netflix all have deep pockets and wanted them badly.

Probably more money than the rights to any tv show in history, by quite a margin.

But it'll be absolutely worth it to them, especially if they actually want to make prime streaming a competitor to netflix.

I always considered the Prime streaming a nice little bonus to the meat of Prime which for me is the 2 day shipping. Although honestly the only thing I have ever really watched on it has been Alpha House which is absolutely fantastic.

I'm piggy-backed off a kind goon's prime account so I only get the 2-day shipping but not the streaming or anything. Guess I'm going to have to upgrade to full Prime.

:sigh: why couldn't it have been Netflix, I'm already paying them.
