I'm not so old that I ended up trading VHSes (although we did have our mom tape episodes of Pokemon while we were at school) but I do remember downloading fansubs of Trigun and Cowboy Bebop from Napster and WinMX.

I used to download a lot more a couple of years ago when streaming was still lovely quality and my laptop had a high enough resolution that it was noticeable so I was inclined to download. I stream more often now since it's convenient and I'm paying for it, though there's the occasional series I still download because I still don't like unofficial streaming sites.
