But activision doesn't seem to have any distribution fuckery with Skylanders(or atleast from what I've seen).

Oh no they definitely screwed up with Trap Team in some aspects from what I've been able to ascertain in the last few months.

Basically because they actually did the consumer a solid by making it so that individual traps can be reused (so you only need one for each element) they vastly, vastly overestimated how many kids would want to buy/bug their parents to buy all the different variants of traps. And since the game already comes with a life trap and a water trap, what you'll almost always see unless stores have just outright emptied their Skylanders section are pegs just littered with water traps, many times just overflowing onto the floor. And that overstock seemed to end up actually screwing over later waves of stuff, such as traps of the new light and dark elements which now go for a minimum of twenty dollars. It's a clusterfuck of over and under-stock which is bizarre because up until this entry they were pretty good with keeping mostly everything in balance in previous years from what I saw.

You can play some games online with friends like Pokémon and Animal Crossing. Most titles don't really support this feature so you won't miss out on much if you don't have a big list of people.

Aside that you can see what your friends are playing and you used to be able to send them messages of crudely drawn dicks, but Nintendo cut that out. RIP Swapnote.

I can never understand the appeal of these "life RPGs" - stuff like Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, etc. - why not just do all of that stuff in real life and enrich your actual existence? I get stuff like The Sims, or even job-specific simulators, since there is an element of power fantasy and wish-fulfillment there. But when it comes to gameplay like doing chores, paying your mortgage, earning income, forming relationships, etc. it just seems like such a waste of time & energy to me.

Not judging anyone, just intrigued by the psychology of all this.

Think of Animal Crossing as your own personal Zen garden inhabited by cute talking animals, who you can hit over the head with a bug net if they annoy you. It's just... very chill. It's a game that doesn't sound very interesting on paper, but if you try it yourself, you get it. Oh boy do you get it...

^E: Don't get me wrong, I love plenty of chill games like the Kirby series, Endless Ocean, etc. - just curious about what people get out of games that essentially revolve around performing mundane everyday tasks. It sounds like the art style and personality of the games have more to do with it than the actual gameplay. The general vibe, which I guess I can understand.

On a different note: anybody ever play the DS game Blue Dragon Plus? I just played the tutorial and it seems like a neat semi-real-time tactical RPG. Kinda like a hybrid of Star Ocean: Second Story & FF Tactics. I understand it's a sequel to the 360 game, but I never played much of that (despite the beautiful art & graphics), but the story seems pretty easy to pick up.

I don't understand why people play racing games when they can get in a car and race down the street, play street fighter when you can just punch someone, play mgs when you can watch a movie, play solitaire on their phones when you can get a deck of cards, or play final fantasy when you can go to a gay bar.

She's a couple hours away in another city, so I can't be there to do it myself. She coincidentally backed up her SD card to her laptop this morning. So right now she's deleting the card and copying everything over. But part of me is thinking Animal Crossing isn't gonna like that for Nintendo reasons.
