I'm having a weird issue with a Galaxy S5, it may be Samsung fuckery or Android, I don't rightly know, but it keeps autocorrecting correctly spelled words to other words, and it's really infuriating. Yes I really did mean to type "may" not, in fact, "mat". Anyone else run into this kind of thing? Is there a fix for it?

Cool, thanks for the serious replies guys. My desire is pretty much just have my images backed up to a folder on my desktop automatically when I hook back into my home WiFi. I know that's not exactly a cloud but hey, marginally more in my control than whatever data mining goes through my stuff on Dropbox. Edit: owncloud looks pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. I'll fiddle with it and let y'all know how it goes. MC Hawking fucked around with this message at 20:36 on Aug 6, 2015 |

You can try tapping on the word after you spell it before moving on to the next word. In other words, after typing "may" it should show up among the suggestions on top with "mat" highlighted in blue in the center. After tapping on "may" once, next time you spell it it shouldn't correct you.

For all you people chiming in your phone is ok. It's almost as if some bullshit security company came up with some random edgecase vulnerability and gave it a catchy name to gain notoriety in the wake of stagefright. That would never ever happen though. They even give a free app to check for you. They aren't even selling it! (requires permissions to enumerate your accounts and full network access).

I got a new LG G4 today and it feels abysmally slow charging. I was wondering if anyone got a good combo of cable/charger to increase the charge rate? Looking online some have said the first charge is slow then it gets better; I'm doing my first charge right now. My Anker 5 port doesn't seem to offer quick charge and I'm averaging around 500mAH with it, although its fluctuating between ~280-830. One cable even gave me 10mAH My Anker portable battery was quick charging at ~1600mAH (I'm assuming thats considering quick charge? The device has IQ) but that only works if the screen is off. I never checked this stuff on my S5, but the S5 seemed to charge quite a bit faster.

Use the charger/cable that came with the phone? edit: I did notice that even with the stock charger the charging slows during use, it's probably intentional considering the phone would likely explode while trying to handle processing at the same time. Jacobus Spades posted:Use the charger/cable that came with the phone? I never noticed a difference between the anker 5 port and samsung OEM charger for the S5, so I didnt bother trying the G4's charger. Even more so because its 1.8a instead of 2.0 like the anker. I was using the cable on the battery so I can get it up and it was doing around 1600mAH. Unplugged it and slapped it into the OEM charger and plugged in it. It stayed around 1500 for a minute then dumped to 600mAH. It does charge at 1600mAH with the screen off though. Is ~600mAH a normal charge rate for smartphones with the screen on? I would regularly charge my S5 from the battery while using it under load, like netflix/youtube/spotify/chrome/awful and it still gained power.

The secret sauce of QuickCharge 2.0 is voltage, not amperage. Normal charging is 5v at a variable amount of amps (usually up to 2) based on what the phone will handshake with the charger. Quickcharge 2.0 can charge up to 3amps, but also variable 5v, 9v, and 12v, which increases the wattage being dumped into the battery.

I'm fairly annoyed now that the Anker 5 Port is slower, . It was the same speed for the S5 vs the OEM charger. Reading this article, it says the phone is QC2.0 capable but the stock charger isn't QC2.0 compliant and an appropiate charger can achieve charge speeds 23% faster. I guess I'll pick one of those up.

mAlfunkti0n posted:I get this but again as I have stated, I am using a few of my apps on SD and do not notice a difference in speed. I am sure that is not he same for some apps but for the vast majority out there storage on SD would be just fine. I am happy to have a higher capacity phone, but given the SD card is there and for what I am using it for I really don't care one iota if the speed is lower. My photos/videos/music don't need super fast storage, they never have and never will. The difference is that when you talk about moving apps to SD, it generally doesn't mean you're running it entirely from the SD card. My point was just that running apps entirely from an SD card is a bad idea for quantifiable reasons, and Android M will now treat the SD card as part of system storage. At least WP7's SD cards were never meant to be user accessible and were provided by the manufacturer. SD cards are perfect for media storage, where a bunch of the limitations of using it as a "hard disk" don't matter. Once you start introducing methods of operation that weren't really the intended purpose, things can start to suck. Considering one of the biggest issues with Android nowadays is inconsistent experiences between devices, introducing another way for that to crop up seems like a bad idea to me. E: In addition, I don't know that the common Android user could even identify what slowdown caused by slow storage media would even look like. They'd probably blame the device for a lovely SD card being the problem. sleepwalkers fucked around with this message at 23:28 on Aug 6, 2015 |

LG is now on the monthly security bandwagon. http://phandroid.com/2015/08/06/lg-chimes-in-on-stagefright-scare-says-they-too-will-release-monthly-security-updates/ Ok Moto, you're the only major play that hasn't spoken up yet. No real excuse with your upcoming flagship either since you bypass the carriers completely.

Battery life report on the Moto G3: Used scrotter because it's faster than Photoshop. A little over 48 hours off the charger except for a brief moment where I was transferring pictures and music and stuff to my SD card. "Mobile standby" is so high because at my work there is absolutely no cell reception except for wifi (and the wifi sessions are limited to 30 minutes at a time so it's not like I can just leave my phone on it), which blows, but that would happen to any phone. And we all know that a cell phone searching for a signal burns more battery. I could probably actually fix that by turning mobile data off but Still have 30%, could probably pretty easily stretch the SOT to five hours. Browsing, video, quite a bit of camera use, Google Maps (which I think is why Google Play services is so high on the list, because that's both Maps and the Location services, right?). Really impressed for a $200 phone.
