Not sure if it's related or a case of parallel linguistic evolution but Australian Army reservists are called 'Chockos' after an incident in WW2 where the Militia (as they were at the time) were forced to retreat by Japanese forces and got derided as chocolate soldiers because they melted away in the heat of battle.
