Hahahahaha yeah it's so hilarious the things you don't understand, right? The ironic liberal defense. Trotting out something you did 40 years ago, that you did because it was popular, has nothing to do with right now. And besides, white people love Mlk because he let them join in the civil rights crusade. He wasn't even the most important black civil rights leader assassinated. He's just the one whites love. He might as well start telling people about his black friend.

It should be pointed out that Seattle has yooge issues with racial injustice, it's basically a passive-aggressive version of Boston when it comes to black people, so #BlackLivesMatter storming a Bernie Sanders rally is pretty loving fitting, not as a comment on Bernie, but as a comment on Seattle supporters of Bernie.

It was three people not affiliated with #BLM in any way, and #BLM has had to do damage control already.

Why would someone point to their past to help other understand the things they have done. Everyone knows that only present action matters and whatever you've done before is completely irrelevent. And like you said, back then, getting arrested and beat up by Police was 'The cool thing to do'. That is why we shouldn't care about his long record of fighting for civil rights, or all the legislative bills he proposed to help minorities over many decades. It doesn't matter because it was not on twitter.

echronorian posted:Hahahahaha yeah it's so hilarious the things you don't understand, right? The ironic liberal defense. But yeah, I agree with you that bringing it up over and over again is stupid when we could be bringing up the fact that Bernie actually supports police reform and accountability now, but it's still a pretty meaningful symbol to have participated in the Civil Rights movement, and even if historically MLK wasn't the most important leader (I have no idea if your statement about that is true), he has survived as probably the greatest symbol of the Civil Rights movement to a lot of people. Or maybe just to whiteys because that sell-out let them march with him. Also the way you said "he might as well start telling people about his black friend" implies that Bernie's the one trotting it out, which he isn't. e: Also please someone share the delicious plausibly-deniable racist things that Hillary said in 2008 if they can be found. I'm excited to see what new material she came up with since that joke about Gandhi owning a gas station. MrWillsauce fucked around with this message at 08:46 on Aug 9, 2015 |

No, they just gentrify the gently caress out of all the minority areas and have a police force so racist the DoJ has to sue them in court. Not to mention the rash of homophobic hate crimes being committed in (historically gay) Capital Hill.
